I have been thinking about Vicki H., does anyone know how she is doing??

Begin Chemo 5-2-05 4XAC Dose Dense , 4X Abraxane Dose Dense (ended August 05)
28 Rad's ended October 13 2005
Started Herceptin Weekly August 2005 for one year
Had a Simple mastectomy left side after Mamo showed incresed micro-calcifications. Jan. 17 2006.
Brain MRI Feb.2006--All Clear
August 28, 2006 Last Weekly Herceptin.
October 2006--Colonoscopy, 6 Polyp's removed--all B9
PET Scan July 2007
Abdominal MRI Oct. 2007---2 Right Kidney Cysts
Core Biopsy-- Lump on Scar Line 1-10-08---B9
Brain MRI 6-2008--All Clear
PET/CT Scan 6-2008
Sept. 8 2008, 4CM area removed from mastectomy scar line. Proved to be B9.
PET/CT Scan-- July 2009 --All clear
August 17,2009 ---Had Port Removed
6 Years NED -- April 5,2011
DX'd with Melanoma left arm 10-10-2011

Wondering too.
About 15 months ago Vickie H generously shared left over meds with a woman I knew of, Kim Fernandez, who needed help getting drugs OK'd by Anthem (Sheila knows this scenerio all too well...).
Kim came on the boards pleading for help and ideas. Kim passed away Tuesday. It made me think of Vickie H's generosity.

I got in touch with her back in Feb., I will try again...maybe I can get an update from Cap? But I know she expressed how difficult this was for him too obviously. I know last time she wrote me things were not going well for her. She told me not to worry about her...and expressed how much she cared about all of us. She said some people have yrs ahead of them and others don't. She said she had to accept that and hold tightly to her brothers and sisters and let God carry her home. She also expressed she got teary eye'd when she thought of all of us...she loves us all so much. (She gave me permission to share this with you...just wanted all to know I'm not saying anything out of confidence.)
For all of you that know Vicky she has such a big heart and is one of the most compassionate and caring people I've met. We shared PM's and she is such an awesome lady...not a day goes by I don't think of her. Always there to advise, support or just add comfort to anyone in need. I pray she is ok...but the last time we spoke things just weren't good. If I hear from her I'll let you all know.

3-23-10 Ten days of rads to RT femur. Completed.
4-05-10 Quit Navelbine--Herceptin/Zometa alone.
5-4-10 Appt. with Dr. Slamon to see what is next? Waiting on FISH results from femur biopsy.
Results to FISH was unsuccessful--this happens less then 2% of the time.
7-7-10 Recurrence to RT axilla again. Back to UCLA for options.

I got an email from Vickie a few weeks ago. She broke her hip and hasn't been able to get up her stairs to her computer. She finally "crawled up" to check her mail. She sends everyone her love. As usual she is full of concern for everyone here. Sadly I must tell you, the doctors have told her there is no more they can do for her. I know all of our hearts break for her. She has given so much to all of us. I told her we are all keeping her in our prayers. It goes without saying of course, but I wanted her to know.

I posted an update about Vickie not too long ago. She did break her hip in June. She was in the hospital for four wks and got to go home to a hospital bed they have set up for her in the front room. I'm sure they just let her hip heal since at this time they can't do any more for her. But she told me she was at home and comfortable. And as always she loves & misses us all. She didn't want anyone worrying about her. (That's our dear, sweet Vicky for you.)
As to the T-DM1...she did go out to a trial in Idaho I believe it was? I can't remember if TDM1 didn't work for her...or if they wouldn't allow her to stay in the trial due other medical issues. I've have to look that up? But she did try it..that much I do know. (If your out there and see this Vicky...sending you all my love!) Not a day goes by that I don't think of you.

Thanks a lot to Leslie and Chelee for telling us about VickieH. There has been no direct word from her for quite a while, but I do recall Cap saying that the T-DM1 nearly cleared her skin mets in just a few treatments.
Maybe the broken hip prevented her from traveling and getting any more of that drug?

Found suspicious lump 9/2000
Lumpectomy, then node dissection and port placement
Stage IIB, 8 pos nodes of 18, Grade 3, ER & PR -
Adriamycin 12 weekly, taxotere 4 rounds
36 rads - very little burning
3 mos after rads liver full of tumors, Stage IV Jan 2002, one spot on sternum
Weekly Taxol, Navelbine, Herceptin for 27 rounds to NED!
2003 & 2004 no active disease - 3 weekly Herceptin + Zometa
Jan 2005 two mets to brain - Gamma Knife on Jan 18
All clear until treated cerebellum spot showing activity on Jan 2006 brain MRI & brain PET
Brain surgery on Feb 9, 2006 - no cancer, 100% radiation necrosis - tumor was still dying
Continue as NED while on Herceptin & quarterly Zometa
Fall-2006 - off Zometa - watching one small brain spot (scar?)
2007 - spot/scar in brain stable - finished anticoagulation therapy for clot along my port-a-catheter - 3 angioplasties to unblock vena cava
2008 - Brain and body still NED! Port removed and scans in Dec.
Dec 2008 - stop Herceptin - Vaccine Trial at U of W begun in Oct. of 2011
STILL NED everywhere in Feb 2014 - on wing & prayer
7/14 - Started twice yearly Zometa for my bones
Jan. 2015 checkup still shows NED
2015 Neuropathy in feet - otherwise all OK - still NED.
Same news for 2016 and all of 2017.
Nov of 2017 - had small skin cancer removed from my face. Will have Zometa end of Jan. 2018.
