i had a bilateral mastectomy in 1999 for dcis--my doctor said there was 1% chance of my ca coming back.
4 years later i have been diagnosed with inflammatory breast ca--missed for 5 months by my local oncologist-and am currently on a research study involving herceptin and avastin (an angiogenesis inhibitor). i have had 3 treatments am not sick and am wondering how long people can continue to take herceptin. i asked new oncologist if it loses its effectiveness and he said they do not know. i have 2 large dogs (bouviers) and my fear is that they will outlive me. i am single so there is no one to take over with my dogs.
i love reading encouraging stories.
