Cyclophosphamide

Just started my chemotherapy yesterday. Doing the FEC route for three times. I have been experiencing an extreme headache now for almost 12 hours. Wondering if anyone has experienced headaches like these after taking this drug and how long they usually last. Many thanks for help received.

Re: Cyclophosphamide

Hi,

I'd had FEC 8 years ago and really can't remember if I'd experienced unusual headaches. Below is a link about FEC. Please be sure to let your doctor/nurse practitioner know (call them) about your headache as it's not listed as a side effect of FEC.

http://www.cancernet.co.uk/chem-fec.htm

Cyclophosphamide is also known as Cytoxan (brand name) I hope others who are taking the same chemo will chime in.

Re: Cyclophosphamide

Hi Brit
I had FAC which is almost identical to FEC. The Cytoxan didn't cause any headaches for me ... instead it wiped out the lining of my bladder and I couldn't 'hold it' for very long. I would tell my onc or nurse about the severe headache.

Fec, fac

Like Pink, I had CAF, for 6 times, and didn't have serious headaches either.

Re: Cyclophosphamide

Thanks for all the replies ladies much appreciated. When the nurse started administering this drug she said I MAY have like a slurpee head freeze type headache and to let them know next time as they can slow the drip down. The headache did not start until about 1 1/2 hours after I left the hospital. It took 45 minutes for them to administer this drug this time so maybe next time if it takes longer I will not suffer so much. It was definately more like a migraine than brain freeze and lasted one heck of a long time. Other than that I am doing well, a little nausea but nothing significant and my self injection of Neulasta went well.
