Colposcopy...off-topic, but maybe you have some answers

Hi,

My twin sister has been having abnormal paps for the past year or two, off and on, and had a colposcopy six months ago and things were fine. Then, recently she had her pap test and it was abnormal again and they have continued to put her on a three month check-up schedule, which she's been on for a year.

The reason I'm writing to all of you wise women, is that I'm wondering if she needs to be more vigilant here, rather than simply getting checked every three months. It seems too laid back and not proactive, but her nature is different than mine. I think with my breast cancer experience, I'm into finding answers as quickly as I can.

There were three interesting sites I sent her on her recent colposcopy. It also looks like there is a new procedure called LUMA which uses a light to look at the questionable area.

If any of you have had experience in this area, please let me know, so I can relay them to her. She then may want to ask her gynecologist what other diagnostic tools could be used to give her a better picture and a clean bill of health so she can get some peace of mind. I know she's preoccupied about it, but she won't talk about it much (that's what my Mom said) and her take is, "if I need a hysterectomy, that's what I'll do." But, as we all know, sometimes the answers aren't that easy.

Thanks for your ideas and thoughts,

Vicki
