I can understand removing the ovaries as that is where the oestrogen is made, but I'm not sure why a hysterectomy would be suggested as well. Did your gynae say why removing both is preferable to just taking the ovaries?

Hi Vicki, thanks for responding to my post. The reason why the doctors think I should have the hysterectomy is because I've been on both Tamoxifan and Femara and both of these are known to cause uterine cancer. They say to take it out before that happens

Thanks Patty. That makes sense. If it helps,I recently had a prophylactic mastectomy and have found that to be an enormously liberating experience. It's such a relief not having to worry about getting a second cancer.
