This information is from a web site that sells Graviola, and the information is presented for you to read and decide if there merits as the it's use in the treatment of certain forms of cancer.

I don't PRETEND to know if the claims regarding the product or valid or not, but I believe the part about the attempt to bury the news concerning the herb is valid.

I don't believe ANY company accused of doing something like this would just idly sit back and allow such negative publicity to occur without taking the matter to a court of law.

This info is posted as-is, I have no knowledge as to if the product works as advertized:

http://www.allvita.net/graviola.htm

Graviola
comes from the deep rainforest jungles along the Amazon. Its various parts, including the leaves, roots, fruit, fruit seeds, and bark, have been used for centuries by medicine men and women and natives of South America to treat asthma, liver problems, arthritis and heart disease.

Listed in an internal memo at the National Cancer Institute in 1976, the Graviola tree and its healing powers would be unknown to the American public until the year 2000, after millions of lives had already been lost to cancer and to cancers greatest helper, chemotherapy.

Over twenty laboratory studies, kept quiet, have shown this tree to be 10,000 times more powerful than Adriamycin, a commonly used chemotherapy. However, unlike Adriamycin which can make you very sick, knock out your hair, and even cause death (in some cases), Graviola does no collateral damage. There are no side effects.

In laboratory studies, Graviola selectively hunts down and kills 12 different types of cancer cells (without harming healthy cells) including breast, prostate, lung, colon, and pancreatic cancer. Additionally, it actually boosts your immune system making the patient feel healthier and stronger and improves overall energy and outlook on life.

The first rule of medicine: Do No Harm. This is one cancer fighter that follows that rule and Americans almost never heard of this because it was a Pharmaceutical company that did the studies, and when, after seven years of trying to synthesize the active agents in Graviola proved fruitless, THEY NEARLY BURIED THEIR WORK..

Will the American public ever revolt? Our healthcare is in the hands of the Pharmaceutical companies who are protected by the FDA and funneled inside information by the National Cancer Institute.. This is outrageous and goes against all the principles of freedom and democracy and everything every soldier has ever fought for. The only reason we know about Graviola today is that an employee of this Pharmaceutical company broke the silence. One individual from among all others (the ones portrayed in commercials who supposedly want to stamp out disease because they have cousins and mothers and daughters too) one employee of a pharmaceutical company really wanted to cure a disease; he wanted to cure cancer. One person.

Doctors and patients around the USA are now using this product with amazing results. Do not wait for your doctor to discover it. And if your doctor tells you it's junk, go get another doctor. There are doctors who want you to heal but their hands are tied. There are doctors who want you to heal but their minds are not open. And there are doctors who want you to heal and who will do anything that is needed to attain that goal without causing harm. Now that's my kind of doctor.

We do not know of any side effects, other than possible mild gastrointestinal upset at high dosages (Over 5000mg) if taken on an empty stomach. To avoid upset, take with food.

Graviola selectively targets cancer cells leaving healthy cells untouched. Chemotherapy indiscriminately seeks and destroys all actively reproducing cells - even normal, healthy ones.

Other promising and ongoing research at Purdue University is supported by a grant from the National Cancer Institute. Purdue researchers recently found that leaves from the Graviola tree killed cancer cells "among six human-cell lines" and were especially effective against prostate and pancreatic cancer cells.4 In a separate study, Purdue researchers showed that extracts from the Graviola leaves are extremely effective in isolating and killing lung cancer cells.
The most recent study, conducted at Catholic University of South Korea earlier this year, revealed that two chemicals extracted from Graviola seeds showed "selective cytotoxicity comparable with Adriamycin" for breast and colon cancer cells. The chemicals targeted and killed malignant breast and colon cells in a test tube--comparable to the commonly used chemotherapy drug Adriamycin.2
Another study, published in the Journal of Natural Products, showed that Graviola is not only comparable to Adriamycin--but dramatically outperforms it in laboratory tests. Results showed that one chemical found in Graviola selectively killed colon cancer cells at "10,000 times the potency of Adriamycin."3

Perhaps the most significant result of the study cited above from the Catholic University of South Korea, and of each of the others we've found, is that Graviola was shown to selectively target the enemy--leaving all healthy, normal cells untouched. By comparison, chemotherapy indiscriminately seeks and destroys all actively reproducing cells--even normal hair and stomach cells. This is what causes such often-devastating side effects as hair loss and severe nausea. In this respect, Graviola looks to be a promising alternative or supplement to mainstream treatments.

"In 1997, Purdue University published information with promising news that several of the Annonaceous acetogenins 'not only are effective in killing tumors that have proven resistant to anti-cancer agents, but also seem to have a special affinity for such resistant cells.' In several interviews after this information was publicized, Purdue pharmacologist Dr. Jerry McLaughlin, the lead researcher in most of Purdue's studies on the Annona chemicals, says cancer cells that survive chemotherapy may develop resistance to the agent originally used against them as well as to other, even unrelated, drugs.
'The term multi-drug resistance (MDR)has been applied to this phenomenon,' McLaughlin says. He explains that such resistance develops in a small percentage of cancer cells when they develop a 'P-glycoprotein mediated pump' capable of pushing anti-cancer agents out of the cell before they can kill it. Normal cells seldom develop such a pump.

Do you think that the organisation promoting graviola expects to make any money from it? Perhaps THAT is a source of bias.

I read the claims on the referred web site- Great claims BUT NO REFERENCES TO THE DATA WHICH SUPPORT THE CLAIMS. This is the first clue that there is NO DATA SUPPORT THE CLAIMS. If you have reference to data (not just claims) pls respond with information as to where I can get the data. Thank you and good luck with your battle.
