Smile Thank you Everyone - home from hospital

I got sprung from the hospital today!

I want to thank each and every one of you wonder individuals for all your prayers and concern while I was in the hospital. I especially want to thank Karla for letting you know that I was hospitalized and also for the nightly calls checking up on me. She called me each night and read the wonderful posts. What can I say, you truly are an amazing group of women/men and I don't know what I'd do without you. You have been here for me since I was first diagnosed and I have gained so much support, information and met so many wonderful people.

As you all know being in the hospital certainly is no fun. Andi, I did have my IPOD shuffle with me and that came in mighty handy since I was located directly across from the nurses station. I guess they wanted to keep a close watch on me -- you never know I might have tried to escape. Also I took my pillow with me -- actually two of them.

StephN, I love what you said about pneumonia being Old People's friend! I certainly don't consider myself old yet so I was a lot unfriendly. I must say that I was a good and considerate patient. I didn't have the nurses running back and forth -- I didn't have to as they were in my room every hour on the hour and sometimes on the half hour.

Jean, Thanks for the group prayer at 8:00pm. I think that's what tipped me back on track.

I had great care at the hospital but the food was terrible. I did indeed have pneumonia in both lungs and was on 3 antibiotics. My electrolytes were extremely off as were all my blood counts. I had to get six bags of potassium/magnisium (spelling??), blood cultures -- too many to count, biopsy/study of phleghm (spelling??), 2 units of blood, numerous chest Xrays, 2 CT scans, etc

As you can see the hospital stay has affected my spelling so please bear with me. My hemoglobin dropped to 8.0 so that's why the 2 units of blood. I received breathing treatments every 8 hours -- and they didn't care when the 8th hour was they woke me up. Actually got woke up at 4:00am and 2:30am for breathing treatments! I was receiving 3 different antiobitics via IV. I had so many bags hanging on the IV pole that they had to start in IV in my arm (in addition to already using my port) in order to get all the medication, fluid and blood into my system.

This chemo combo of Taxol/Carboplatin is really kicking my butt! It's worth it though if it will bring me to NED.

I'm feeling much better now and will be seeing my oncologist tomorrow and the pulmonary doctor Dec 6th.

Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your prayers, well wishes, cards, and PMs. YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!!

Kate, I'm so glad to see you're back! I know the hospital is a mixed bag, you have to put up with some inconviences to get that round the clock care, but sounds like they took good care of you. Much relieved to see you're on the mend!

Wink Big, Long, Tight Hug, Kate...

We missed you, prayed for you and will continue to pray. You are amazing. Through it all you thought of us as we were thinking of you. You are just the sweetest Soul and I admire your spunk, lady! You have SURVIVOR written all over your face. Just take good care, complain when you have good reason, and stay strong, determined and brave. Like I have to tell you that! You are remarkable. I know you'll keep us posted. Glad you could keep the noise out and your serenity level at optimal peak. With comfy pillows, like a hug from home. You are surrounded by love. I see a radiant white light beaming down on you and throughout your body. It is a healing balm touching every cell in your body. You are on the path to victory, one step at a time. With my love and admiration, Kate. You have always been there for me, and I will always be in your corner, backing you up. PROMISE...
