Canada--tykerb?? Can we get it??

Does anyone know this information??

Since I failed herceptin and then the clinical drug omnitarg.....I think I would be eligible for tykerb and xeloda? I am trying to figure out how/if we can get it here? If we cannot, can we go to the USA and get it????? How accessible is this drug?

Robyn, I'll bet Joe has the answer to your question and also contact info for GSK's patient advocate person.

As for failing, you did not fail anything...the drugs failed you. Hopefully the next try will succeed.

Take care
Chris

http://www.tykerb.com/tykerbcares.html

Please check the link above. Call the toll free number on this link. The medicine can be bought from special pharmacies in US as long as a US oncologist can duplicate the prescription from a Canadian Oncologist, which should not be a big problem. Talk to your onc in Canada and he should nbe able to arrange this for you.
The cost is USD 3625 for one month of supply but a friend of mine got it thru a doc for his mom for compassionate use and he got like 70% discount.

All the best and go for it.

Hi Robyn -

Try this link: http://clinicaltrials.gov/show/NCT00338247

If you scroll down there's a Lapatinib EAP Control Center phone number in Ontario.

Maybe they'd be able to give you some info.

Take care,
Pat

Robyn,
If you want to go the EAP way of getting access to Tykerb, the first site in Canada is in Oshawa Ontario:
Lakeridge Health Oshawahospital. <TABLE border=1><TBODY><TR><TD>1 Hospital Court, Oshawa, ON L1G 2B9</TD><TD>Tel:905-576-8711</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
If the iinfo has not changed since the end of last year when the site was set up,the person in charge for applications is this nurse:
Lynda Phippard RN 905 576 8711 Ext:4044
Fax 905 721 4849

The MD for this site ts Dr Jose Chang
