Re: Today and tomorrow only... PLEASE VOTE!!!

Ann mentioned in a Facebook post her overwhelming shock and gratitude that someone had set up something to collect donations to make up the shortfall if she didn't win. If that sentence sounds vague it's because she was even vaguer.

It was my work of the evening to find out that there are two places where donations to her son's college fund can go: to her PayPal account--there's a donation link on her blog, but I've never seen it because I've got such good protection against site advertising. (Several months ago, I spent 15 minutes disabling everything so I could obtain her Amazon affiliate link, but I wasn't paying attention to any of the other ad content, so I had no idea about the PayPal link.)

The good thing about PayPal is that if you donate using a bank account (vs a debit or credit card), there are no fees to either party. The GoFundMe account charges 5% on the total donated, but that ends up being pretty similar to what PayPal ultimately collects from both sender and receiver if a credit or debit card is used.

Ann will not tell people about this, which is why I have taken it upon myself to do an end run around her (for which she will probably kill me, but it's worth it). Still, I figured that if I wanted to know, others might be interested. Here's the link:

http://www.gofundme.com/224r04#description

Right now, she's 121 votes ahead, so I'm hopeful that her son will be getting a good start on his first year's tuition. Keep those votes coming.

Bumping to the top again. Last 17h to vote and right now Anne is winning by roughly 100 votes. Come on peeps, she needs your vote. That's an easy way of "giving" somebody $1,000.

Re: Today and tomorrow only... PLEASE VOTE!!!

Woot! She won. She won by 278 votes. I'm thrilled to my toes.

(I just wish they'd shorten the contest period because it was ridiculous.)

(*Edited: it was 259 when I went to bed, so I don't know what happened. Some kind of lag, I guess, unless my calculator now has chemobrain too.)
