Dear ZO

The report refers to novel vitamin D analog known as "D5." This form of vitamin D was synthesized by researchers in the laboratory for this study. It is not an over-the-counter supplement. In fact this synthesized form of Vitamin D has only been utilized in vitro and in vivo (i.e. in the test tube and in animals).

Since 1997 several researchers discovered that various synthesized forms of Vitamin D5 have an anti-tumor effect on breast cancer cells inside a test tube and in animal testing.

The novel concept contained in this report is so-called "immunoconjugate therapy." Under this therapy a synthesized form of Vitamin D (i.e. D5) is conjugated and linked to an HER-2 antibody. In laymans terms the HER-2 antibody carrys the Vitamin D5 directly to the HER-2 positive cancer cell where the Vitamin D5 acts to inhibit the cancer cell growth. The HER-2 antibody acts as a "smart bomb" or a "precision weapon" that is capable of directing an anti-cancer (vitamin) therapy directly to the cancer cell.

The conjugated D5-HER-2 antibody therapy cited in the report was administered by injection. It is the subject of preclinical studies and has not yet been tested in humans for toxicity and safety.
