Who is definededekt?
I am wondering what is going on when I receive messages that this person has posted on a thread I have posted on. The message is gibberish and I see all the posts by this person are the same piece of gibberish. Can someone explain please and if this is nonsense can the person doing this be eliminated from the site? I always worry about a virus being introduced. Thanks, Carolyn

11/10 Reconstruction, directly to silicone implants
12/11 nipples by skin graft/Right breast size reduced

It is spam and has been happening to us periodically. The gals who manage the board try to eliminate it as soon as they can. If you notice on the bottom left of the offending message there is a red triangle. You can click on that and it will report the offending message to the moderators.
I think it is disguisting that they invade our space where people are hurting and needing answers. Only to receive an offensive message.
Our moderators do the best they can. Some of our newer members might not know that our co-founder, Joe, passed away several months ago so the board is being kept alive by volunteers among us.
Keep the faith

definededekt is now a dead spammer. Well at least deleted and banned.
We do have several moderators (in multiple time zones) who monitor the board and try to spot these and deal with them.
It's helpful if you report the post, or I really liked this thread which id'd the user. I checked in and immediately saw this and was alerted there was a problem.
Please don't post ON a thread that a spammer has hit, it makes it harder to spot. One way I peruse them is to look at the last poster (particularly on "older" threads) and check them out if I don't know the name.
Thanks for your vigilance to help keep our site safe and friendly. We have also been working on software solutions to try and block them without making it so burdensome to post that our REAL members can't access the site.

Found suspicious lump 9/2000
Lumpectomy, then node dissection and port placement
Stage IIB, 8 pos nodes of 18, Grade 3, ER & PR -
Adriamycin 12 weekly, taxotere 4 rounds
36 rads - very little burning
3 mos after rads liver full of tumors, Stage IV Jan 2002, one spot on sternum
Weekly Taxol, Navelbine, Herceptin for 27 rounds to NED!
2003 & 2004 no active disease - 3 weekly Herceptin + Zometa
Jan 2005 two mets to brain - Gamma Knife on Jan 18
All clear until treated cerebellum spot showing activity on Jan 2006 brain MRI & brain PET
Brain surgery on Feb 9, 2006 - no cancer, 100% radiation necrosis - tumor was still dying
Continue as NED while on Herceptin & quarterly Zometa
Fall-2006 - off Zometa - watching one small brain spot (scar?)
2007 - spot/scar in brain stable - finished anticoagulation therapy for clot along my port-a-catheter - 3 angioplasties to unblock vena cava
2008 - Brain and body still NED! Port removed and scans in Dec.
Dec 2008 - stop Herceptin - Vaccine Trial at U of W begun in Oct. of 2011
STILL NED everywhere in Feb 2014 - on wing & prayer

Hey mods - I don't know if you have administrative access to the forum, but you can set it up so that you get emails of the reports. I mod another board and when when people hit that "report to moderator" button, an email comes straight to my inbox. We have a hack called "ban and delete" which means one button will delete all their posts for the past five days, ban them. Very easy!

5/27/18: Stable. Kadcyla put me right back in the barn. I have two teeny spots on my lungs that are metabolically inactive, and liver is clean.
I’m beating this MFer. I was 51 when this started and had two kids, 22 and 12. Now I’m 60. My oldest got married and trying to start s family. My youngesg graduates from Caltech this June. My stepdaughter gave me grandkids. Life is fantastic.

I would estimate that less than half of the questionable and even definite spam messages get reported.

I dont understand the motives of these awful spammers. Are they selling something or just trying to hijack a good website? They are a nuisance but I just ignore them, am wary of getting a virus.

Stopped taxtere/herceptin, now on tyverb/xeloda.
Lung mets shrinking.
Back on Herceptin with T/X. Partial response.
Skin mets progressing. Radiation scheduled mid february 2011.
Spot found on hip - radiation to hip beginning mid February 2011.
Now trying Gemzar/Tyverb/Herceptin and Zometa.
CT scan Feb 2011 - lung clear!
Brain mets (specks) - radiation mid Feb.
Brain Scan June'11 - Clear
CT Scan June'11 - Good - skin met active - watch and wait.
Surgery to remove skin met. Surgery to back 2012, four titanium rods inserted. Skin mets reappear. On Navelbine, not working. 4 week washout, start Myocet for skin and lung mets August 2012. Brain scan clear despte intermittent blurry vision (something hiding? Am suspicious but hopeful. )On we go, glad to be here.

Yes, we get emails when someone reports a post, which is helpful. I also check in several times daily and am able to delete before that are reported. Yesterday was just awful - I think I spent more time deleting posts than reading! I would delete/ ban a bunch only to click on the new posts and have to whack another. Really???

I have learned the hard way never to open an email from our forum - very frequently it's a spammer and then terrible, obscene emails go out to every on my contact list. If I get an email from a thread I'm part of - I delete it and come to the forum website to check it.

3/12/10: mammogram/ultrasnd/biopsy-invasive bc & DCIS; 2 tumors (2cm er-/pr-/HER2-& 1.8 cm er-/pr-/HER2+); grade 3;poorly differentiated
3/24/10:sent.node biopsy clear
3/31/10:bi-lateral mx.;atypical ductal hyperplasia-lft side
4/21/10:wound revision-infection/scarring 4/28/10:seromas both sides
5/21/10:port installed,TCH chemo (6 x 3 wks); Herc,-1yr; 33 rad tx after chemo
07/2010: port not working-2nd port didnt'work;3rd port opposite side.
07/2010: 2 weeks after 3rd port surgery, threw 3 pulm. emboli-IVC filter installed; warfarin
08/2010: hospitalizations w/3 of chemos; decision to stop after 4th-on to radiation in Oct 2010;Herc cont.
12/03/2010 - finished 33 rads Hooray!! cont. Herc. every 3 wks
4/2011 - pneumonia ??? Nope-radiation pneumonitis. No more Herc.
5/2011 - NED!!! port out.
8/2011 - clean PET & CT scans.Still NED
7/2012 - Still NED/very blessed.
2/2013 - 6 mos checkup-all clear. CA2729 down frm 13 to 11.

8/12 Whoops...progression...trying for Perjeta/Herceptin (plus some more nasty chemo!)
9/12 Start Perjeta/Herceptin, chemo on hold due to infection/wound in leg, added on cycle 2 &3
11/12 Poops! progression in liver, Stop Perjeta/Taxo/Herc
11/12 Navelbine/Herce[ptin - try for a 3 cycles, no go.
2/13 Gemzar/Carbo/Herceptin - no go.
3/13 TACE procedure

I also do not understand what a spammer could accomplish by doing what definededekt did? Of what use is such gibberish to anyone? I would truly appreciate being enlightened. Thank you for all of your brilliance in advance. Carolyn

12/17/08 biopsy after two 6 mos mammo recalls
12/30/08 diagnosed high grade IDC & DCIS ER/PR +, Her2 (+++) post menopausal/age 57
1/15/09 double mastectomy/skin sparing; no evidence of vascular/lymphatic invasion, 8neg/8 nodes (tumor 8.0mm)
2/16/09 given portacath/removed 4/30/10
2/18/09 "surprise" 2.0mm tumor/positive borders~completed 28 rads 10/09.
2/23/09 until 4/19/10~treatments every 3wks (4 Cytoxan + Adriamycin, 4 Taxol + Herceptin, 13 Herceptin alone)
8/09 osteoporosis diagnosis/Zometa 3 yrs of 1x/6 months
Chemo side effects; Deafness, kidney function loss
11/09 began Aromatase Inhibitor (Femara)/Feb2014, stopped Femara early/after 3 mos began Tamoxifen for 8 mos to complete 5 years
11/10 Reconstruction, directly to silicone implants
12/11 nipples by skin graft/Right breast size reduced

There are a lot of stupid people in the world...if you are dropping a zillion hooks, only a tiny fraction needs to bite!
Too bad we can't put a sign on the door saying "only smart people are in here, don't waste your time, dumb spammers!"
