Skin recommendations anyone
Just had first round of TCH Wednesday. No nausea but I did have the peripheral neuropathy, joint pain, blurry vision (I blame Emend for that) and no appetite. Lately the skin on my face feels as if it is pulled very tightly and my usual Oil of Olay not doing it. I read about the Lindi Skin products - anyone tried the face serum? Any thoughts? Herceptin only this Wednesday and hopefully I won't have side effects.

1.2 cm tumor right breast, grade 3, ER 4+; PR 3+
HER2 +, invasive ductal carcinoma
Quadrantectomy right on 7/30/08
Path report, all 3 nodes taken were clear!!!!!!
Lymphatic/vascular invasion and sent out BRCA testing
Port in on 9/2/08. Chemo began 9/3/08. TCH (MUGA wrong - echocardiogram says 65% cardiac MRI 59% 9/10/98 elevated liver enzymes, PET scan 9/16/08 all clear.
TC ended 12/17/08
Port blood clot and hosp. 1/2/09
radiation begins 1/8/09
BRCA testing done - results NEGATIVE!
cardiologist said go back to coreg as it helps counteract heart effects of herceptin and slowly increase dosage - now 40mg daily.

Are you having actual skin tightening or the feeling of tight skin ? Do you think that
I used Kiss My Face facial lotion (non-greasy and derived from natural ingredients). You can find it in most health food stores and its inexpensive... it softened my skin - and now I use it all the time. Usually the stores have testers.
By the way- keep an eye on your heels... they will too likely dry out.
I am sure others will chime in with other good names of products...

Stage 1 for some onc's; Stage II for others (if you add up the sizes of all tumors).
Infiltrating DCIS
HER2+, ER+10% & PR-
.9cm tumor not visible on mammo, but palpable; visible on ultrasound
Lumpectomy/ clear margins, no nodes
Had Breast MRI after lumpectomy that revealed two more tumors in same quadrant(.4cm and 1.6cm) that were not visible on either mammo or ultrasound.
Re-excision
DD AC+T; Herceptin one year
Rads
NED/Taking Tamoxifen reluctantly

I used Pond's daily moisturizer (SPF 20) during the day and Merle Norman's Wrinkle eraser night cream at night. The chemo really dries everything up (including the eyes). You might want some natural tears for the eyes - it helped me. Ask your chemo nurse if its ok.

I use nothing but the Lindi skin products....they were the only thing that helped my dry Xeloda Skin! I use the face serum every day as well as the lotion, eye cream, I love all their products....the have a product for radiation that most chemo centers now recommend.
For my dry eyes, I use Restatis, which is a godsend!

Dermatologist is hard to book. I would go ahead make an appointment now so that two, three months from now if you still have problems, you can see the specialist right away. And if the problem no longer exists, you can always cancel it. The oncologist and oncology nurse usually are familiar with these kind of problems. Have you mention to them?

I'm the makeup queen - love the stuff and love trying out different products. I had Clinique which is supposed to be hypoalergenic but I found the only cream I could tolerate was Body Shop's Vitamin E moisturizer. It's not expensive and has just a delicate scent. Everything else "stung" - gave me a slight burning sensation.

Thanks for the suggestions. I go back for the Herceptin only tomorrow and will mention this to Onc. and nurses. This morning I just kept adding on eucerin but I really don't want to use the hand cream on my face - off to shop.

The Lindi Skin products are available at most cancer centers and online....I got free samples at the cnacer surviors day i went to this weekend...came in a bag of goodies...everything from a blanket, to gloves, pens, cups, manicure set....it was really nice!
