pulmonary toxicity

Please read the article at the following web site and tell me what you think.

http://www.herceptin.com/herceptin/p...y_abc_long.jsp

I have had a really, really bad cough since Nov of 2007. I have been on Herceptin since Jan of 2007. I have had my heart checked and I am at 55%. My CT scans are now showing something in my bronchial tubes but all but one of my tumors are gone and the one that remains is only 2mm. My onc mentioned the finding in my bronchial tubels at my appointment 3 weeks ago but I didn't think it was anything to be concerned about (he didn't sound concerned) until I read this report.

Does anyone else on herceptin have a bad cough? Any lung problems?

Thank you for your help...I am really concerned.

I wasn't on Herceptin that long - only 22 weeks, so I am not sure it is relavent. But I did have scratchy throat, and perhaps coughs - can't really remember. Where do you live? It could well be allergy and/or colds
since it is the flu season - evidently you don't have flu.
Drink plenty of fluid, and see how it goes. If it still bothers you, get another doctor to check it out. Good luck.

If I infuse too quickly...

I cough and cough and cough

I find if I let the infusion last for about an hour and a half, the coughing doesn't start and I'm fine. It took a while to discover this - at first I was being premedicated with decadron - but I hated that because I felt as if I was on speed for several days - and I ate a TON!

We slowly cut back on the Decadron dose while lengthening the infusion time for the herceptin -

and here I am - getting close to three years!

if you put cough herceptin Lani into the Search function above

you will find three threads concerning this that I have contributed to

The reason I put my name in is that I have quoted articles extensively
in them

here is just one:

Hope this helped (I am crummy at "linking")
