My cousin's wife passed away today...
she had just turned 38yrs old last week, she leaves behind two boys ages 10yrs and 5yrs. I had posted a few times about her or asking questions on this website. She was dx last yr with breast cancer, her + er/pr -, apparently the fish test results came back - initially so she was started late on herceptin, but she underwent a mastectomy/rad/chemo and was told she had ned until it came back late last yr into her spine and 9 lesions on her brain.
More of her story is posted by her husband on this website; battleforbundy.com.
Let's all pray for a cure for this horrible disease!
3sweeties.

I am so sorry for your loss. I went to the website and I could see by the many postings that she was loved.
My thoughts and prayers to her husband and two sweet boys.
Hugs,

At initial dx early 2005, she was Stage 2, only 1 out of 10 nodes was + for cancer, tumor size was 3cm, er-/pr-. At dx they said she was her- (mistake by pathologist), she underwent mastectomy, radiation and was given chemo; taxol.
Cancer reoccured later last yr and was found in her spinal fluid and 9 mets to her brain, she went to a "wellknown" cancer center and they wondered why she she developed mets to rapidly so they re-ran some tests and found out she was in fact her+, she was started on herceptin, she was given wbr for the brain tumors, had an ommaya reservoir inserted for chemo, at some point in time she was also on depocyte, xeloda etc.
She developed carcinomatous meningitis and ended up being unable to walk, see or hear, she also had developed white matter disease in the brain secondary to the wbr.
3sweeties.

Sympathy
My sympathy to you and your family for losing such a young mother to this terrible disease. I also pray there will eventually be a cure for this disease that hits too many young and old people. I won't go into my details except to say I have also had BC and was in remission for 10 yrs before it returned.

My sympathy for the loss of your loved one. So sorry to hear she left so young when she still had a lot more to do and see. And be with her children.
I hope that her story may help others be more aggressive in their demands for second opinions at all stages of treatment. My tumor was looked at by three places including Sloan Kettering. Lets hope others think about this and demand if necessary. Mistakes are human so it doesn't hurt to check at least twice.
Sincerely,
Janet
