Everyone is invited:

NCI Seeks Advocacy Community Input

You are invited to provide feedback to NCI on the best way to involve advocates in cancer research. We want to hear from all segments of the advocacy community. Join us by telephone on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m., ET, whenNCI’s Office of Advocacy Relations (OAR) will host a Webinar on the proposed initiatives of the Advocates in Research Working Group (ARWG). Everyone is encouraged to participate in the comment period. All you need is a telephone. Those who wish to access the online portion will also need computer access. No registration is required.

The mission of the ARWG is to develop and provide recommendations to the NCI Director’s Consumer Liaison Group (DCLG), an advisory group consisting of 16 advocates, on how NCI can more consistently integrate advocate involvement across the Institute to ensure that the patient-advocate perspective is appropriately represented. In March of 2009, the DCLG will receive the recommendations and will then advise the NCI Director.
Kelly Cotter, ARWG Chair, and Shannon Bell, OAR Director, will inform advocates of the important work done over the past year to develop the proposed initiatives. To view the ARWG membership, please visithttp://dclg.cancer.gov/working-group...ving-advocates. To view the presentation in advance, please visit http://advocacy.cancer.gov/activities/teleconferences (click on PowerPoint Presentation).
Those viewing the Webinar will need to use a phone to hear the presentation, and access the Internet at the same time to view the accompanying PowerPoint slides during the presentation portion of the Webinar. You will not be able to access the PowerPoint slides online, through the link below, if you are on a dial-up connection that is also your phone connection.

Please note: To participate in the Internet portion of the meeting you may need to install software plug-ins at: https://www.mymeetings.com/emeet/joi...plugins_mm.php. Click on “Check Your Browser” to automatically download the normal plug-ins to your computer.

To be ready at the start time, please call in and log-on to the Webinar at least 15 minutes in advance, due to possible additional time needed for installing software plug-ins.
