Evening Primrose inhibits Her2-neu gene

Has anyone heard anything about this?
Please read about a study that was done at Northwestern University below regarding Evening Primrose inhibiting the Her2-neu gene and increasing the effetiveness of Herceptin when taken together. Has anyone tried this?

Balancing different types of fats

Hi Liz,

I use some GLA even though I haven't had Herceptin. But I did a search of this forum because I remembered there was an important post by RB about GLA, and this previous thread came up and makes some important points to consider in regard to GLA:

It is okay with hormone receptor positive. The main point is that GLA is an omega 6 fatty acid and you need to balance the 6's with the 3's so you do have to watch how much you take. And how much should you take for an effective dose? That also remains to be seen but some shouldn't do any harm and might do potential good.

Evening Primrose Oil

Hi,
I sent the link to the article to my natropathic physican. He responded saying that his testing machine indicated Evening Primrose Oil would be very beneficial to me, but he didn't fully understand why. He said he does now.
Please remember that everyone's body is different and has different needs. Everyone's body responds differently to various kinds of medicines, foods and supplements, so if our members are interested in trying it they might want to show the article to their physicans or nutritionists and make a joint decision whether or not to try it.
