An Open Conversation on Metastatic Breast Cancer

I just returned from Dana Farber where I attended the symposium on Metastatic Breast Cancer. The discussions and talks were taped and I will post the link when it becomes available.

I found it interesting that the prognoses for HER2+ breast cancer has changed positively in comparison to other types of breast cancer. I also found it noteworthy that Dr. Winer feels HER2+ cancers have a good chance of being cured in the next 5 to 10 years. Let's hope that it will be closer to 5.

Happy Halloween!

Re: An Open Conversation on Metastatic Breast Cancer

All types of breast cancer were discussed. There was not much mentioned about HER2+ that is also PR+ because the main focus in the future will be targeted therapy. There seems to be less interest in developing new chemotherapy drugs because of the increased effectiveness with targeted therapy. I did not take notes and do not wish to incorrectly post the information that was provided. I will post the link when it becomes available.

Re: An Open Conversation on Metastatic Breast Cancer

Yes, Dr. Winer mentioned the 10 year prediction at the Young Survivors Conference in Dallas this past February. He inspired such hope and optimism in us HER2 gals. Praying its closer to 5 and that I can be here for the cure!
