I'm practically giddy, brain MRI was clear!
How fun was that call this afternoon from the clinic to have the nurse tell me that my MRI was clear...normal (we laughed about that). I feel like it's Christmas! I started on blood pressure meds yesterday after treatment with herceptin. It was 170/91 when I arrived at the clinic. He immediately put me on meds for my blood pressure and got me in for an MRI at 5:30.
Then my call this afternoon. My headache is gone and I am so excited to have a "normal" (no, it's never really been normal), clear reading. And an added bonus...my insurance which isn't accepted at this scan, MRI clinic talked them into paying for 1/2. What a treat! What a day! I am soooooooooo grateful! And bestest of all, dinner with my son and his family last night. Hugs from my 4 year old grandson made my day just perfect! I am so blessed. Time to pick up my 8 year old granddaughter and share my good news with her. She didn't like the idea that I might have "brain problems"!!! She'll be glad to know her grandma is still in the race!

Bilat. mastect. 12/05 (Rt.prophylactic) followed with AC/taxol/Herceptin/tamoxifen then switched to arimidex after hysterectomy in 12/06. August 07 switched to Aromasin due to severe jt. pain from Arimidex. Nov. 2011 No more meds and NED!

I get my brain MRI Thursday and I hope mine is "normal" too! I think they told me my last one was "unremarkable" and I have never been so happy to be unremarkable before.

'95 post-meno dx Invasive LOBULAR w/9cm tumor! YIKES + 2/21 nodes. Clear mammo 10 mnths earlier. Mastec/tram flap reconst/PORT/8 mnths chemo (4Adria/8CMF). Borderline ER/PR. Tamoxifen 2 yrs. Felt BLESSED. I could walk and talk, feed and bathe myself! I KNEW I would survive...
'98 -- multiple mets to liver. HER2+ 80%. ER/PR- Raging, highly aggressive tumors spreading fast. New PORT. 9 mnths Taxotere Fought fire w/fire! Pronounced in cautious remission 5/99. Taxotere weekly for 6 wks, 2 wks off -- for 9 mnths. TALK ABOUT GRUELING! (I believe they've altered that protocol since those days -- sure hope so!!)
+ good old Vit H wkly for 1st 3 yrs, then triple dosage ev 3 wks for 7 yrs more... The "easy" chemo, right?! Not a walk in the park, but not a freight train coming at 'ya either...
Added Herceptin Nov '98 (6 wks after FDA fast-tracked it for met bc). Stayed w/Vit H till July '08! Now I AM FREE! Humbly and eternally grateful for this life-saving drug! NED since '99 and planning on keeping it that way. To hell w/poor prognosis and nasty stats! STOPPED VIT H JULY '08...! REMAIN STABLE... Eternally grateful...Yes is a world & in this world of yes live (skillfully curled) all worlds ... (e e cummings) EVERY DAY I BEAT MY PREVIOUS RECORD FOR # OF CONSECUTIVE DAYS I'VE STAYED ALIVE. I'm like Margerie....I just LOVE the word "unremarkable". Never thought I would like to be referred to like that...but I tell my onc every time I see her for scan results I better hear my *favorite* word...which she know's is "unremarkable".

4-05-10 Quit Navelbine--Herceptin/Zometa alone.
5-4-10 Appt. with Dr. Slamon to see what is next? Waiting on FISH results from femur biopsy.
Results to FISH was unsuccessful--this happens less then 2% of the time.
7-7-10 Recurrence to RT axilla again. Back to UCLA for options.

I think I need to wrap this day and yesterday up in beautiful paper and ribbon and save for another day! I want to remember this feeling and be able to pull it out on days when things are not so wonderful. I want to remember Blake's precious hugs, Ayden's and my son's relief and joy that I was ok, and most of all your rejoicing with me that the battles and "bad days" are worth the reward of days like these! I'm so grateful for no brain mets in my ol' head and for cyber friends who matter more than I ever thought possible. I wish you all a giddy day as I have had. God bless this site and the awesome victors who frequent it's pages! You are a special breed, one to carry in my heart and mind all the days of the year. Thank you for being there when my pains were almost too much to stand, and today when I was celebrating a wonderful success. Only those who have taken this roller coaster ride could understand the joy of eyelashes growing, pain receeding, and MRIs declared "unremarkable" as the best of the best in life! Lily Diag April/06 5 months after give birth my son Max stage IV mets on liver (5 tumors) 38 year old, her2+++ and ER+PR+ from32 nodes 4 positives mastectomy right breast chemo before surgery herceptin/carboplatin/taxotere ,clear and surgery have radiation 20, `& then herceptin and tamoxifen NED until Aug/07 body only then 'n June 04-06-07 .1 lesion of 1.6 cm on cerebellum ...novalis ,open sugery 5m.m brain met again novalis, 4mm.In the liver. Waiting 2 months now 3 tumors enroll on T-MCC trial start first infusion Nov 5/07 at Dec 17 scan show one tumor despair the 2nd and 3th diminish Doc said great results until March/08 ct scan show progression 03-05-08 start tykerb & xeloda
