Facebook question
Hi gang! I'm really not a computer person, so I often need a little help. Recently, I've received several invitations to join Facebook, and on one of them, I clicked on the link to respond, and they asked for my password to my email account. That's bad, right? I didn't do it, but I'm worried that it may be a family member or one of y'all inviting me to join. To join a group, I should not have to give my e-mail password, right?

Blind leading the blind here, Bill, but whenever I get an invite I do not have to give my email password, no. I just cannot get into the whole facebook, twitter jive and never answer anything or write on any walls. I just do not have the time. Everyone loves it, though so I guess it has its merits. The same thing happened to me.
I think facebook is attempting to look though your e-mail contacts to see if they are also facebook members so they can add them as your friends.
You did the right thing by not giving out your password, never give any password out, too many snakes on the web.
You can sign-up for facebook without providing your e-mail password, that's optional.

My guess is that you weren't intentionally invited. What probably happened was that some facebook user replied to some of the nonesense that takes place on facebook and sent an invite to everyone in their e-mail contact list. You just happened to be in their e-mail list
This is what happened to me, I got all excited about a facebook invite and come to find out it was essentially spam.

I have my FB set up with an alternate web based yahoo email address, not my everyday email address. It is the one that I use for all of my online stuff, and it is the one where all of the online spam gets sent. I don't have any addresses saved in the address book, so it is virtually a meaningless email address. I didn't set up FB from any invites that people sent me, I set it up on my own. They only require your email address and a password unique to your FB account to sign in.

Oct'09~ 25 days of low dose 3D conformal fractionated targeted IMRT to the bone mets spot on rt. iliac crest that have been watching for 2 years. Added daily Aromasin back into treatment regimen.
Apr'10~ Brain MRI clear! But, see new small spot on adrenal gland. Change from Aromasin back to Tamoxifen.
June'10~ Tumor markers (CA15.3) dropped from 37 to 23 after one month on Tamoxifen. Continue to monitor adrenal gland spot. Remain on Tykerb/Herceptin/Tamoxifen.
Nov'10~ Radiate positive mediastinal node that was pressing on recurrent laryngeal nerve, causing paralyzed larynx and a funny voice.
Jan'11~ MRI shows possible activity or perhaps just scar tissue/necrotic increase on 3 previously treated brain spots and a pituitary spot. 5 days of IMRT on 4 spots.
Feb'11~ Enrolled in T-DM1 EAP in Denver, first treatment March 25, 2011.
Mar'11~ Finally started T-DM1 EAP in Denver at Rocky Mountain Cancer Center/Rose on Mar. 25... hallelujah.

I've got a fakie FB email account too. I have no friends, (well, except a few from this board) but that's ok because I don't know what to do with anything on FB so I'm not a very good friend I guess! I just start clicking on stuff and pretty soon I'm apologizing for sending (or not sending - because I can't tell the difference!) hearts and angels! Who needs another apology thread on the web????
Actually I could be a better FB friend if I learned how to do it! Sheila's really good at it, maybe she will give me lessons in SA!
And needless to say, nobody wants to see my face on the web, except maybe with a bag over it!
Sigh...by the time I figure out facebook, they'll have moved onto other parts of the body and FOR SURE I'm not going there!

Sept - now - on chemo hold for calming tummy we hope. Markers stable for 2 months.

5. other small scattered sclerotic lesions, one in right iliac and one in thoracic vertebral body similar in appearance to L1 without PET activity and not clearly pathologic

12/27/19 - begin ds8401a w nivolumab. after 2nd cycle nodes melt away. after 3rd cycle chest scan shows Improvement, brain MRI shows improvement, resolved areas & nothing new. switch to plain ENHERTU. after 4th cycle, PETscan shows mostly resolved or improved results. Markers near normal. I'm stunned but grateful.
10/26/20 - June 2021 Tucatinib/xeloda/herceptin - stable ish.

I have pretty much been limiting my Facebook communication to be among family members and close friends. The 'program' searches all the e-mail contacts in our address book. It automatically informs those contacts that we have a Facebook account. If someone invites you, you then have access to his friends and family that are listed on his account...
So far most of my friends are very courteous. After the initial excitement, I have sort of limited my contacts on the facebook to just family and personal friends. And I can send private e-mails to my nieces if they wanted to 'vent'...

And there are pretty good privacy settings which allow you to limit access to yourself and your friends on to varying degrees... you and your friends can be as invisible to others as you wish to be.

Sept'08~ MRI shows activity in brain mets, completed 5 fractions/5 consecutive days of IMRT to zap the pesky buggers
Oct'08~ dropped Xeloda, switched to tri-weekly Herceptin in combo with Tykerb, extend to tri-monthly Zometa infusion
Dec'08~ Brain MRI- 4 spots reduced to punctate size, large spot shrunk by 3mm, CT of torso clear/pelvis spot stable
June'09~ new 3-4mm left cerrebellar spot zapped with IMRT targeted rads
Sept'09~ new 6mm & 1 cm spots in pituitary/optic chiasm area. Rx= 25 days of 3D conformal fractionated targeted IMRT to the tumors.
Oct'09~ 25 days of low dose 3D conformal fractionated targeted IMRT to the bone mets spot on rt. iliac crest that have been watching for 2 years. Added daily Aromasin back into treatment regimen.
Apr'10~ Brain MRI clear! But, see new small spot on adrenal gland. Change from Aromasin back to Tamoxifen.
June'10~ Tumor markers (CA15.3) dropped from 37 to 23 after one month on Tamoxifen. Continue to monitor adrenal gland spot. Remain on Tykerb/Herceptin/Tamoxifen.
Nov'10~ Radiate positive mediastinal node that was pressing on recurrent laryngeal nerve, causing paralyzed larynx and a funny voice.
Jan'11~ MRI shows possible activity or perhaps just scar tissue/necrotic increase on 3 previously treated brain spots and a pituitary spot. 5 days of IMRT on 4 spots.
Feb'11~ Enrolled in T-DM1 EAP in Denver, first treatment March 25, 2011.
Mar'11~ Finally started T-DM1 EAP in Denver at Rocky Mountain Cancer Center/Rose on Mar. 25... hallelujah.

7-23-2018 9 mm groundglass nodule within the right lower lobe with indolent behavior. Due to possible adenocarcinoma, Recommend annual surveilence.
7-10-2019 CT to check lung nodule.
1-10-2020 8mm stable nodule on R Lung, two 6mm new ones on L Lung, a possible lymph node involvement in inter fissule.
