Radiation week

So far so good with my IMRT radiation. 4 today and all is well but my back shoulder blade feels like its burned or just sore still from surgery. Oh and have been feeling good until me and my ex husband argued and cried for a couple hours after. Talk about exhausting, so I did stay home from work today and slept until noon.....I was simply worn out in every way!

Re: Radiation week

Linn,

It's good you got sleep. Cancer is so draining on relationships. My boyfriend is truly "Sheldon" from the Big Bang Theory (with a little Leonard to keep me interested) and I also can't go through the arguments. He always knows best and I can't even share my pathology report with him because I'm so sick of his opinions because his PhD becomes an M.D. in every specialty when one arises.

Eventually I said I'm fighting for my life. Either you're on that team or not. I don't want your opinion, just your support unless you see me about to do something to seriously hurt myself.

It's YOUR time. Let me know how you're doing tomorrow.

Re: Radiation week

Linn I am 4 booster zaps away from being done rads and I can honestly say that by every Thursday I am exhausted. And bitchy. My right shoulder blade area is sore and burnt from the radiation exit. Use the creams prescribed and nap or go to bed early. Or just bag work and sleep till noon.
all the best to you
Leah

Re: Radiation week

I had a lot of pain in my shoulder after radiation and was told a nerve was either fired or pinched. I was given Lyrica to take for the nerve pain and it worked extremely well. I take it at night. it's the number one drug for fibromyalgia (I don't have that) so maybe that's why it's helped me. I only take it when I'm having pain. also physical therapy helped a lot also. my physio used a Swiss method called Furter (or something like that) that uses small hard balls onthe area.
sorry about the reltionship problems, adds to the stress and exhaustion.
hugs
sarah

Re: Radiation week

Irvine....LOL, his PHD becomes and MD that is hilarious to me!!!

I know 6 months in, and I think people become bored with the cancer. Oh to be bored!!

With us cancer patients it seems like it is always something and when the doctor asked at the beginning of the radiation treatment would you say you are a 100%?? Well, that is a loaded question I am thinking because I am not pre-cancer 100%!! My answer is no I am not a 100%, and she says well 90%, and I am still thinking. She said well if you are below 80%.....I did not let her finish and said okay I am 90%. However, it is always something! My bald head will randomly break out in a complete sweat, and I have weird little twinges of pain here or there, My energy can bottom out, I can be be emotionally weak, uhm and now my shoulder blade feels likes it is bruised!! Oh and I now feel like a chronic complainer so had some guilt and shame in there because I should do my best to act completely normal around people now because who would want to be around me the cancer, chronic, crazy person if I said what I feel or the pain I might be having all the time!!

This board is now becoming my friend and the people on it because they get it!!

And my ex-husband and his trophy girlfriend in the beginning wanted to help!! Now, cancer is old news, so back to the people they were before cancer started!! Now, I need to work on putting them on the shelf with my brain or move to the west coast, so I never had to see them again!
