I just posted earlier this week that I had good news of stable ct & pet scans for bone mets. And so I enjoyed a day or 2 of being more at ease.

NOW today I am facing another issue with a whole new scare of brain mets. A month ago I had cataract surgery on my right eye. In the 1st week after surgery my vision was much better (20/40). Eye specialist was pleased. In the last couple of weeks I noticed that vision in that eye wasn't as clear. Today at my post-op exam he confirmed that my vision was worse (20/60). Not extremely worse, but I should be better & he can find no reason for it. Eye exam looks normal, nerve, muscles, swelling, all normal. He says he doesn't "suspect" anything, but ct of brain is the next step. The other eye shows no change. I have no other symptoms, headache, dizziness, etc.

I'm scared now of brain mets. And I will have to wait over another weekend to get results.

Anyone have similar vision problem in one eye? and was it brain mets?

Thanks. Pam

Hi there, I have to agree with some of the latter posts, why not MRI? It picks up before the CT's which would obviously mean smaller if any. I am to have MRI after my next 3 treatment on my neck and I am requesting the brain as well. At the top of the message board is posted MRI for Brain Mets. Hope after your tests there is nothing to worry about.

Love & Hugs Lyn

Pan, I like to keep up on this because I want to know what to look for or feel. I went to The American Brain Tumor Assc. ISBM. from Harvard. Easy to read and comprehend.

The most common symptoms are headace, muscle weakenss, and behavioral distrubances. It is not a slower growin diesease (according to them) slower that colon cancer.

If there is alot of swellin in the brain it can effect your vision..It did not however say if it woud be one or both eyes.

Some pysical changes you might notice is changes in vision, language disturbances, changes in sensory loss and unavailable to speak or write.

I hope this will take you to the link and you can be prepared for the conversation with you onc on Monday. I hate to scare you, but Lisa and others found there by scans wtih no symptoms. I will say this but I am sure you will be worried all weekdend. Try to not let it consume your whole weekend. If is is brain mets, there is the option of treating it successfully and if it isn't well I would love to see a post that is happy agin.
Brain mets are the same cancer cells that you had with original dx of BC. It just has spread to other parts of the body and has started to grow. It is not a brain tumor per say. Not a dfferent cancee. Just like lung mets, you dont have lung caner, but cancer that got through, through the lymoph nodes and has setteled some where else. Hope I made sense and that the board I refered to is accurate. You are going to be alright. Hang in tehre, k

Iwould recommend an MRI to rule out brain mets. I had a tumor on thr right occipital lobe that made my left eye visually impaired peripherally, and also a round plate looked as if it was chipped on the edges. All will return to normal after TX. It is best to check it out. Hope to hear good news. Get a second opinion about your cataract side effects, since you may find that healing in time will make the fuzzies better. Those steroid drops also may be causing a temporary blurr.
Hugs, Christine
