Help with Her2 serum results

I finally got the her2 serum test done. I had my baseline done and it came back 20.6. My last "found" met was a brain lesion that was re gamma knifed 12/19/08. My last pet/ct echo was good? I have my 3 month Brain mri and pet/ct in about 3 weeks, do I pull the panic button, or hold my breath and wait!!??? I know the brain lesion if looked at too soon could look worse just from the rads?!!! I still get my herceptin weekly. Otherwise have been NED from the neck down since 2006. just the brain!!

Thank You all for Always being here with your trails of Love and encouragement, What else do you do at 130 in the am when you need answers.

God Bless to all
Darita

HER2 levels

Good Morning,
Relax a bit.....for me this is another test that goes up and down. Have had the HER2 serum done for the past 2 years every 3 to 4 months. For some it has been very important. For me have had levels as high as 21 and as low as 8. Got scans done when at the highest and all clear. Depend a great deal on "how I feel" when get the check ups as well as this and other markers. Know what you mean about this group of ladies and gents. Do not post often but read this board several times a day....for info of course, for the love and strength found here.....priceless.
Hugs, Bonnie

Her2 serum test should no be taken during menstrual period. During periods estrogen level will be lowest and Her2 is inversely proportional to estrogen so the test will give false positives.
My own experience proves this. Last time unknowingly I took the Her2 serum test during my period and it came to 12.4 and I was very alarmed. I repeated the test after 3 weeks and it came back to 9.0.

Hope this helps people who are taking their Her2 serum test.

Julie
