Estradiol

Well, I did it! After much research.....talking for about 30 minutes with my GYN and reminding myself that quality of life is important too. I started taking 1 mg of Estradiol...i.e. estrogen replacement. My hot flashes started 7 ears ago, at age 45 when chemo started. In all theses 7 years I have not had much of a break. The past year and a half the flashes are as bad as back in the chemo days. Hell! I work in a kitchen with 2 ovens......those who suffer bad hot flashes need no more info. than that....2 ovens a hot kitchen OY! Not to mention my sex drive and physical symptoms are BAD! And, sleep.......what's that. A hot flash every hour on the hour doesn't give a body much rest. SO......that's it. I am going this route. Praying the hot flashes are history soon.

Anyone else go this route.....I am er/pr negative.

Blessings all.....

Re: Estradiol

Hi Mary Jo. I haven't gone the same route as you are going, but just wanted to wish you relief from those hot flashes. I had a chemopause almost twenty nine years ago and have had hot flashes for all of that time! They were slightly less bothersome for some "middle" years, but returned with a vengence when I became of normal menopause age. I was estrogen receptor positive, so no relief of replacement therapy for me. I was also offered effexor, but declined (have a daughter who has had to take antidepressants. Her side effects were nasty). Anyway, I hope the current treatment works for you and you are soon without the flashes, night sweats and loss of sleep. Would love to hear how it works for you.

Re: Estradiol

I started it one week today - pill 7 I will take tonight. So far I'd say I am noticing a VERY SMALL improvement. Still getting plenty, although less, and also I notice the intensity isn't quite as bad. My doc said to give it 2 weeks.....so 2 weeks it is. Hoping more improvement is coming :-)
