Re: Researchers find two connective tissue cells to be linked to worse prognosis of b

They dont mention this specifically but on eof the main cancer growth metastasis etc stimulating chemicals is a Cytokine called Interleukin-6. This is what these fibroblasts in the tumor environment secrete. In fact, the cancer cells can secrete chemicals to attract these Interleukin-6 secreting fibroblasts.

The bone matrix is chock full of Interleukin-6 secreting cells. This is believed to be the basic reason so many cancers metastasize to the bones. They go where the Interleukin-6 is.

There is an anti-Interleukin-6 drug called Siltuximab, brand name Sylvant. I thing the dose is 11mg/KG every three weeks, maybe every month. Perhaps this drug might be useful in treating cancers of various types.
