working through treatment

Received docetaxel, Herceptin and pertuzumab on Friday. Experienced shooting pain in my head, teeth, breast and a feeling like my head is very full. Was just exhausted over the weekend and now having a hard time at work. Only have 6 weeks left on family leave since I had reconstructive surgery in March and used 6 weeks. Oh in hind sight I wish I had those 6 weeks and no boobs. So must work. Has everyone else experienced this? I really need some help on how to get through the days when I can't pick up my head. Can't loose my insurance. called the dr's this morning and haven't heard back yet. I'm hoping someone here holds the secret. Hoping it only lasts a couple days.

Re: working through treatment

I haven't had that kind of side effect with treatment you have, but I do know that you get tireder as time goes by. So I would tough it out and use whatever leave you have towards the end. If you can work it out, maybe you can work half days or something to get more sleep.

Sorry you are having a rough time but it might be the initial dosing and the next time won't be so bad.

Oh, if by "not picking up your head" means you are tired, you might ask your oncologist for ritalin. It is very gentle and and will keep you awake but not buzzing.

Having been on Herceptin for five years and Perjeta for...2? Not sure, I think it's the docetaxol doing it to you. Once you are off that you'll be fine.
