Sorry could not cut and paste a link for some reason.

I am considering taking this for my back, and I thought since it was a cox2 inhibitor that it might be good for downregulating her 2 as well.

Hi,
I don't know the product, but I do know some of the ingredients and what they do. It seems there are only small amounts of the ingredients that might be helpful for orthopedic problems or cancer. Is there a good nutritionist or a naturopathic physician you can consult in your area?

Hi,
I forgot to mention that some hospitals, medical centers, and universities have departments of complementary medicine now. The people in those departments coordinate care, including cancer care and build bridges between the uses of conventional medicine and other forms of medicine. Some of those places have information about supplements on their websites, including supplements that can be used with conventional cancer medicines. Maybe there is one near you or you can try their websites. I think places like Mayo Clinic, M. D. Anderson, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Cancer Treatment Centers of America and others might have some info on their websites. Good luck.

Elaine,

Are you the same Elaine who set up the sites you provide the links too.

If so WELL DONE

I have not had a chance to look in detail but it looks like a really useful resource.

Penelope

You may find these interesting. Omega six is a COX 2 precursor.

I have a book due out shortly that tries to explain in understandable language. I will post details and a link once the date is absolutely certain.

HI Unregistered,

Yes you are right this is a half finished sentence presuming knowledge, and not very clear.

Sorry I was in a rush.

COX2 is an enzyme which is used to make two separate families of chemicals one from long chain omega 6 fat and one from omega 3 fat.

The omega six chemicals produced are in very general terms inflammatory.

An imbalance of Omega 3 and 6 with excess of Omega 6 arguably leads to inflammatory pressures in the body.

In the sense omega 6 is a raw material of inflammatory chemicals it is a precursor - less raw material = less product.

There is more information in the Greek Diet thread which is primarily about omega 3 and 6.

Hi,
Thanks for the compliment. I created and manage the sites listed below my name if those are the ones you mean. Websites are alot of work and I have a few others, so it is always a challenge to keep them updated. Some supplements interact in a negative way with conventional medicine and some supplements enhance conventional medicine. My naturopath has testing equipment to sort it all out and my M. D. is willing to cooperate with my naturopath, so I am pretty lucky. The only thing I know about cox 2 is what my naturopath told me. He said there was some research to decide if cox 2 inhibitors can clear away a kind of "smoke screen" that cancer creates around itself as a protective messure. I guess if cox 2 inhibitors can clear away the "smoke screen" the chemo might work better.
I read that omega 3 is healthier than omega 6. I have to study the rest.
