Re: update on my progress

Tricia K is spot on : you are working hard just healing AND you go to doctor's appointments (have to tolerate some nonsense there) and jump online to share your experiences with us! Keep up the good work and don't be too hard on yourself.

Re: update on my progress

Pam,

Thanks for keeping us posted. I am getting a chuckle out of the surgeon stories. I just visited a friend today. It has been 5 days since her "simple day surgery" which the doctor said would be a piece of cake. Well, 5 days latter she is feeling like someone forgot to stir the cake mix. Keep up the good work of getting through all of these challenges. I hope you can go out for coffee with a friend even if you have to drink water. Buy some new hand lotion or a new bathrobe. Treat yourself well, you deserve it. We all need our doctors, but I guess we get day-to-day truth here with our friends. Thinking of you.

Re: update on my progress

I saw the radiation doctor today and got all tattooed and measured. I will have 20 tx of radiation starting Jan. 20. I just hated radiation when I had it on my chest years ago. Dreading having to go 20 times again.

More news: my tumor marker up another 300 pts from 3 weeks ago, so something going on. My fecal occult test - 1 of the 3 was positive for blood ( better than 3of3 2 weeks ago). The nurse said the doc will discuss that with me when I see him in 2 weeks. I know I'm going to have to start a new chemo again, but the doc won't switch my treatment until I'm done with radiation. Good I guess; one thing at a time.

I have been losing more weight. I'd say I've lost 10-15 lbs since November. Lately I think it's some post surgery weight loss which I hope is normal and will come back. I am trying to eat, but can't seem to get enough calories. I won't take the ensure, boost stuff --that tastes like poison! After the 3rd nurse-type person commented on my weight today, calling me a 'skinny little thing' I went to a drive thru and got burger, fries, and malt to bring home. I haven't eaten that junk in months.

I also bought rice protein powder to mix in with food to add protein and some calories.

Maybe I'll just eat marshmallows like Flori!

Re: update on my progress

Hi Pam!
I highly recommend the marshmello therapy. It's good for lots of ailments!!
I have hot chocolate and marshmellows in front of a warm fire just ever so often.
Not only is your body working very hard, but your mind is probably at hyper speed.
Find whatever soothes you and do a lot of it.
And remember that you've got so very many of us believing for and praying for your healing.
lots of love and marshmellows galore,
ma

Thumbs up Re: update on my progress

Like Ma, my first choice would be marshmallow therapy. I know
those Boost and Ensure things taste crappy ... have you thought of
Carnation Instant Breakfast? They taste good and you can mix them
into a higher calorie milk ... just thinking out loud here ... really can't
wrap my head around trying to gain weight ... tehetehe.
