Re: Kadcyla & Perjeta, Thank You, But It's Over Now

Hi, I'm new to my diagnosis (Stage 1, 6 tiny Her2 tumors, the largest is 3 mm, tons of DCIS, no ER or PR, no nodal involvement) so I don't know if my situation can "speak" to yours. That said, I have gotten 3 different treatment recommendations: TCH, TH, and a brand new trial (here in Boston) of T-DM1 (kadcyla) for small tumors (it's been FDA-approved for larger tumors). Don't know if either of the last two might be relevant to you, but maybe??? Wishing you the best, and knowing that your spirit WILL help, Nancy

Oh Karen,

So sorry about your met, that trial looks interesting. I've been wondering what is next . . . and I think you are one of the first to answer this question.

You are so optimistic and this just seems perfect for you. I'm praying it takes you to a permanent NED!

Re: Kadcyla & Perjeta, Thank You, But It's Over Now

I hope this is not a met but necrosis. I had necrosis show up in my brain met area several years after the met, and had to go through a year of worrying and watching and am learning that the docs/scans/tests don't always know the story.

I'm with you on this:
"I personally believe immunotherapy and inhibitors are the future, along with precise custom treatments."

Sending very positive thoughts your way!

Jan 2014: CONTINUING on HAPX…
FEB 2014 PetCT clinical “impression”: 1. newbie nodule - SUV 1.5 right apical nodule, mildly hypermetabolic “suggestive” of worsening neoplastic lesion. 2. moderate worsening of the sternum – SUV 5.6 from 3.8
3. increasing sclerosis & decreasing activity of L1 met “suggests” mild healing. (SUV 9.4 v 12.1 in May ‘13)
4. scattered lung nodules, up to 5mm in size = stable, no increased activity
5. other small scattered sclerotic lesions, one in right iliac and one in thoracic vertebral body similar in appearance to L1 without PET activity and not clearly pathologic

December 2015 - brain stable. Continue Herceptin, Perjeta, Avastin and xgeva.
Jan 2016: 5 days, 20 grays, Rads to L1 and continue on HAPX. I’m trying to "save" TDM1 for next line. Hope the rads work to quiet L1. Sciatic pain extraordinaire :((
