chemo day 1

Hi yous,
I was feeling good when I first got home yesterday around noon, drinking lots of fluids, doing too much probably. ...The major mistake though was letting the nausea get ahead of me. I have a bit of a phobia around taking pills and for some reason had it in my head I would take the first nausea pill, the expensive one, at night before bed, just as it said I should, and then the "as needed" nausea pills starting the next day. In the afternoon I needed a nausea pill and thought I could tough it out until bedtime. Big mistake. It took most of the night for us to get it under control again, hmmm quite something to look forward to. Feeling much better today. Didn't think I would ever eat or drink again last night but ate a pretty good breakfast today. Duke, my husband, is a wonderful nurse, lucky me.Take care and thanks for thinking about me, Carolyn

Day 1 done and down...moving forward :)

Dear Carolyn,
Glad the first treatment is done and over.
Now the count down begins, only 3 A/C to go.

I did the very same thing you did. Was feeling good and did not think I needed the meds....(yes big error).
Glad you got hold again, as you now realize, keep taking the meds even if you feel great!

Sounds like you have a great nurse! Reach out if you
have any questions or need anything.

Best wishes,
Jean

Ah yes, Carolyn - the trick is stay ahead of the nausea, not play catch up with it. Glad you got yours under control, you sound like you are doing pretty well.

It's one down kiddo...

all the best

Carolyn,
Don't worry about taking the pills- just take them. My nurses told me to take them even if I couldn't decide whether I might (maybe) be feeling the first signs of "something". Just take them and that will help a lot. One session down and counting is right- you can do it! You have done it!!
best,
karen

Question Wondering

Hi Carolyn,

I've been thinking of you. By now you should be coming off the hump and beginning to feel brighter. Hope it all wasn't too bad. Chemo is tough, but we are tougher! Of course, I wasn't at all sure just how tough I was after that first round! It knocked me on my proverbial butt!

Please let us know how you are fairing.
