I'm on my second week of Navelbine/Herceptin
for lung mets. The plan is 12 weeks.
I've no interest in food, even when my stomach growls.
I've read loss of appetite is a side effect of Navelbine.
I usually have a good appetite.
Somewhat like anorexia I suppose, my appetstat seems shut off.
I won't drink the sugary protein drinks suggested by the
oncologist. I'm slightly overweight, but concerned with getting
good nutrition. I also have flu like side effects which
doesn't help. so I take Aleve. Any natural suggestions for the appetite?
I'm on a few meds already for other issues.

Peace,
Susan M

I would stay away from sugary sweet foods and go with your favorite cream soups tp boost up your protein adding beans, rice or egg noodlles for extra nurition. Start out slowly, and chew your favorite sugarless gum to help stimulate your appetite. Egg nooles is a good way to start adding more proteins with whatever you like . Eat small meals more freuently.
Never force yourslf , enjoy the foods you choose, not spicy foods either.
Hope this helps. Sweets should come from natural sources that do provde a souce of nutition, such as dred apricaots , some nuts and berries. Also natural nut butters can help with cinnamon and/or low sugar apricot, grape or blueberry jams. Smuckers and Knott's Berry Farms have a good variety.
Stay well eating well with frequency will help you to build stamina and feel whlesome again.
Hearty appetite! Hugs Christine
BTW sOME OF THOSE NURITIONAL DRINKS ARE TOO SWEET AN DO NOT INCREASE YOUR APPESTAT. NUTRION PROTEN BARS MAY BE A BETTER CHOICE, IF LOW CARB.
