Vickie, apparently it is different in the U.S., the link below will take you to a site which outlines the schooling necessary for each type of degree. I admit this is a personal issue for me as my grandfather was a D.O., and of course we revered him. But still, the standards here are strict.

Thank you for your input, but yes, it is different here in the States. The MD and DO have the exact same medical training, but I've found out that the DO actually gets additional training for the "whole body" treatment of patient.

Thanks for the great link... will check it out. I'm giving the DO a chance. Since it is a hugs cancer center at MSU, I believe they know their stuff.
