This is a rather long article, but worth the read. It talks about changes in the way drug testing may be done (IS in some cases) and how they plan to use more humans in early testing along with PET scans, biopsies and other methods to determine more quickly if a drug is working. This could dramatically cut costs of development and get a better read on what drugs to bring to the market more quickly. I think it is a fascinating new approach and glad to see a broad interest and FDA behind it.
