Anastrozole

I just started taking Anastrozole last month after having issues with Tamoxifen and needing a hysterectomy because of those issues.

Can anyone share their experience with this drug? A little over a week ago I started waking up in the middle of the night with a horrible lower backache making it hard to fall back asleep right away... so annoying AND painful. Other than that I havent noticed anything else and Im not even sure if this back issue is from the Anastrozole.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Anastrozole

Firstly I love your avatar and have five cats myself! I have been taking this drug for six years and will continue as long as I can but have not had the type of backache you had.I've found it does give me joint stiffness and now and then trigger thumb where my thumb locks and gets painful to move but thankfully it doesn't happen too often. I still find the side effects better than the possible alternative so will continue despite some bone loss which is being treated with Zometa and I'm hopeful my next Dexa scan will show improvement from that.Good luck and do give it another while as I found the side effects became easier the longer I take it.

Re: Anastrozole

Thanks, Tricia!

That is Max, my chemo kitty. Right before I was Dx'd I lost both of my cats to old age (17 & 15) So I told my husband that I needed something the cuddle on my down days. We searched for a long time and found this guy, a flame point siamese. He was abused and the first month in our home was pretty rough as he had HUGE trust issues. Now he is such a lover! (although he is much closer to my husband)

I am also now starting to have some minor joint pain, nothing compared to that which I had with Tamoxifen. As soon as I came off Tamoxifen I started shedding pounds, which made me very happy. Hopefully this drug doesnt bring it all back

Re: Anastrozole

Oh I can relate and have a rescued kitty just like that who is now sitting on my lap after four years of loving !!! I think the joint pain does get easier and hope it does for you too, I also lost my old cat to spinal cancer during my chemo which upset me more than my own dx, Max is gorgous but its nice to have these furrys to help us!!!

My friend has tow rescue flame point siamese and there's a group on FB I think, she's a 25 year survivor who had 22 nodes pos so a real inspiration for me!
