Surge in ACS Reach to Recovery

I have worked with the local Reach to Recovery program and have had only one contact in the last year, until this week. I have had four, each from a different source. I'm glad they are contacting, but wonder at the sudden surge.

Has anyone else noticed anything like this?

Hi Sassy,

I have been a volunteer for less than a year. I didn't get any referrals for at least the first 6 months; I have had five referrals since December. Thankfully, not all at once - the most I have had at one time is two.

It is a great program - very rewarding.

I am a Reach to Recovery too. Besides that, since my mammos have been great, my surgeon appt keeps getting cancelled. The receptionist there told me that more and more women are coming in (with lumps) hence my cancellations (2 so far). And she said they are getting younger and younger.

I, too, am a Reach To Recovery volunteer. It goes in spurts for me. Sometimes I'll get 2 or 3 referrals within a month and then hear nothing for a year. Although I enjoy this volunteer "job" very much I'm always thankful when I don't get called. Hopefully my phone doesn't start ringing off the hook.

Hello my friends ~ Im not sure what being an R2R volunteer involves ~ perhaps I'll find out when I go to the Conference coming up here in Australia, in May.

Im going with my hubby as support person and our bubs plus 2 other women from our local support group are going as well.

http://www.reachtorecovery2009.org/

Anyone else intending to go? Might see you there!

Also our local Aboriginal newspaper is supporting us a little financially 'The Koori Mail' Im particularly interested in stories of other Indigenous women as I said i'd do a writeup for the paper. Would be so great to see some HER2 members there!

Blessings all
