There are two kinds of cells in the body, somatic cells and gametes or reproductive cells. The former have a full set of chromosome pairs (diploid)
where as the sperm and/or ova are monoploid (so they can fuse together to make another diploid organism)

This free access article reviews another theory of cancer besides the multiple hit mutation theory. Something to wrap your mind around on a Monday!
