Tell me all you know ...

about Abraxane. I know I will be starting it Tuesday, and be getting it along with my trusty Herceptin.

Dede
Hello. I hope I can help you by sharing my experience.
I did Abraxane Carboplatin Herceptin for 6 months.
I had great response to these drugs. The Abraxane is a good drug; many have had great luck on it. The nice thing about it is you will not need a steroid preload in you IV as Abraxane is albumin based. I did not have any bad side effects while on this combo. I did have low red and white blood cells from time to time, but the Neulasta shots and Aransep shots help boost the cells.
Here is a website to look at side effects

I wish you the very best!

Dede, I've been on weekly Abraxane for 3 weeks. It's been ok so far. Tiredness, have to eat 3 good meals a day with snacks in between so my blood counts will recover well enough to stay on schedule(a real problem with my previous chemo, Gemzar. Very hard on the counts), thinning hair including eybrows and eyelashes but no real hair loss yet (!!!). I have stomach issues (GERD) so I'm given IV Zofran as a premed. The first infusion I was also given IV Benedryl as a precaution but did fine, no allergic reaction so haven't needed Benedryl since.
Overall one of the easier chemos for me. Good Luck!
