It is hard to get a clear picture either way. But thanks to all who are posting what they know for sure about it, as well as their questions, so we all can continue to consider any issues and facts about different situations.
In the last decade we have gone from a standard of care that did not routinely recommend such drugs as trastuzumab for early stage HER2 positive bc, to routinely recommending it for most HER2 positive bc patients. It is not an "inexpensive" drug to prescribe or give or monitor, especially when given in addition to the standard chemotherapy. Around half of the patients receiving it are believed to benefit from it, and I wouldn't try to set a value on that.
My point is only to say that very spendy newer health care practices DO cost a LOT more than when these drugs were not recommended a decade ago, and regardless of which "health care system" is in place, the premiums are going to go UP to cover those increased costs.
