Selected songs for Jackie's surgery on Tuesday (today) 11 am

Hi, I've been busy visiting with my old friends and families these past couple of days. Just posted this song list on my college choir alumni's online group. The ones you don't recognize are in Mandarin Chinese. I thought I would share it with y'all and request for your prayers during my surgery at 11 am Tuesday.

[The conductor of my Freshman year just e-mailed me suggesting to add the song of Psalm 23 - His Mother sang it to him when he was sick while a young boy. It's also Amelia's pick.]

Jackie’s Favorite songs [for her 5th major surgery ] March 31, 2009 (revised April 1)

(Feel free to edit since I am just writing it off the top of my head with my own translations sometimes)

1) Little baby, fall asleep fast
Xiao baobei kuai tien shuei giao, birds are all back to their nest. In the garden and the field, the bees no longer making noise. Only the silver moonlight quietly shines into the window – Shines on the baby dreaming of the fairy island. Little baby, fall asleep. s-l-e-e-p, s-l-e-e-p.
[REM sleep – Per Diana Ip’s e-mail instructionJ]

2) Beautiful Dreamer, wake unto me….[Judy Tung called to remind me of getting enough sleep.]

3) For Elise [Tuesday is one of the two garbage pick-up days, the other day is Friday (no, it is not played in Central Texas ]

4) Feng Yang Hwa Ku [Jack and I most likely are going to gripe at each other some under stress; and I do wear size 9 shoes J]

5) Kust Mail Cart(?) [Believe it or not, I had directed it while a freshman at 2nd Girls High (1974) in an intramural competition: …Running forward, running forward, the nonstop hoofbeats… and my fellow classmates were 'running' out of my control – I was too young (14) to pull them back][Oh, yah, I put it here because Jack and I are always late and have to rush. J]

6) Wo Hsien tsai yiao chu cheng [(I’m onward to the battlefield) – we are marching [rushing] inside of the hospital, acting ‘brave’ while in fact we are ‘lost’ at the newly expanded Hospital www.sw.org]

7) Love [The True Essence of love] – Our former music minister, Theiss Jones, who had just passed away last month at 71, sang it in our wedding (both in Chinese and part English of his own translation based on my description – he was learning Mandarin around the time before his trip to China.) He was the Student Conductor while at Baylor University. He’s a wonderful baritone, and was forever patient during choir practice – He was active in the Bapitst Music Ministers choir, ‘The Century Men’, and had served as its Chairman for a couple of years.

8) O Let The Son Of God Enfold You by John Wimber, based on Revelation 19:4 and John 10:10-16
[I love to play this one because it is an easy and beautiful Spirit Song (whatever that means) My
Chinese Church members thought I was an OK pianist partly because of this song.]

9) May the Road Rise to Meet You, May the wind be always at your back. The sun shine warm upon your face, the rain fall softly upon your field – and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. May the Lord bless you and keep you, may the Lord lift His face and shine upon you, and give you peace. [This is when I am going under anesthesia – I am seeing the sunshine…]

10) I saw the light [an old, popular Gospel] I saw the light I saw the light no more darkness no more night Now I'm so happy no sorrow in sight praise the Lord I saw the light J

11) Are you sleeping? Are you sleeping? Brother John (The Chinese version: “Two tigers, two tigers, Running fast, running fast. One without its ears, one without its tail, so strange, so strange.”) [The anesthesiologist and the nurses making sure that I am ‘out’]

12)The Lord Bless you and Keep you [Boss (Lao Ban – Huang Hao-hsin)’s order J) [I’ll be covered In the love of my friends and families and under God’s power – knowing He is faithful.]

Thank you for your prayers. As Gen. Douglous McArthur had said upon leaving the Philippines: "I shall return" - >

Encores:

Psalm 23rd

God be with you till we meet again
