New to Message Board

Hello Everyone,

I had my annual mammogram February 2009 I was diagnosed with HER2 positive breast cancer in May 2009 after several tests. I have gone through chemotherapy and I have one treatment of Herceptin left on 1/25/11. I have heard a lot of scary things about HER2 positive breast cancer being highly aggressive and I want to be sure that I know what to expect next. With the original breast cancer, I never had any real symptoms and I received the letter that my mammogram came out "normal. " It was only at the suggestion of my mammogram tech that I mention to my gynecologist her concerns that my right breast was starting to shift to the side, which I did at my exam the following week. So based on that information my gynecologist ordered an ultrasound which lead to other tests which confirmed three tumors and Stage IIB breast cancer. If it weren't for the technician mentioning her concern, I fear that I would not be living today and writing this posting. I have shared with her that she saved my life.

I would like to find out about nutrition and what I should or shouldn't be eating. I have heard to stay away from sugar and dairy products but have found conflicting data on several websites.

So any insight that you can give me as I take my first steps on getting on with my life after breast cancer would be helpful.

Linda

Re: New to Message Board

Linda,
I found this board early in my treatment. I am not here very often now but there is a huge amount of information and support here. If you have any specific concerns it might help to search and see what has been discussed previously. There is also a specific message board on this site for Nutrition as well. Several of our Members are very knowledgeable on this issue. R. B. is one of these. Good luck and I think you can make many friends here as well.

Leslie
