Good news- spot on bone scan was arthritis

Hi!
A few months ago I had a bone scan and xray. Both showed a tiny spot on right iliac bone. It turned out to be just a little arthritis and the pain is already gone!
The petscan showed some diffusion over my mastectomy scar and I sometimes have discomfort over that area of my chest. The onc. secretary said it was the surgical pins that were showing up. Does anyone else have pain from surgical pins? My surgery was seven years ago. Would an ultrasound of the area be able to detect it if it were something else? My underarm and back area has a pocket of fat from lympedema. My arm is fine, but I am starting PT for under my arm and chest area on Monday. God Bless You All, Cathy

Glad to hear the bone spots were only the arthritis. Good luck on the additional scan you are having.

Dear Cathy1 My bone scan spots were also arthritis, as well as a few broken ribs. Welcome to the muscular-skeletal wreck club. It was a good incentive for me to exercise more and eat better. MJO

for normal people...

arthritis is a bad thing, but for us it is a celebration-here's to good old arthritis. I wish I could help with your questions, but can't. I'm sure someone else can though. I'm so happy for you!

Isn't it amazing that we rejoice with a diagnosis of arthritis....whoppeeeee, I have arthritis....glad your scans showed that ....I have "clips" that show up whenever they do a CT or an Xray on my mastectomy/reconstruction side...they have never called them pins, they say clips...I always wondered if they left something in they should've taken out...I also have discomfort, but I think mine is due to scarring from the reconstruction, and adhesive capulitis over the implant....one thing for sure, the left side of my chest isn't going anywhere, unless I develop a flat tire....I always say I have a 20 year old boob on the left, and a 50's year old boob on the right.....but hey, I'm unique!

We're probably the only people who celebrate having arthritis! I had something similar show up on a CT scan and when I asked my onc what it meant (dont you wish they wrote these reports in English!) he said "It means you're getting old - and that's why we're here!"
Hope you figure out the rest of it, Cathy!

Cathy,

Glad that it's only arthritis! I just had an MRI of my entire spine done because I was having such severe pain in my spine. I previously had surgery and have a fusion from L3-S1. The pain was just above this. Well, I'm happy to report that it's not mets! However, I do have a herniated disk just above my fusion. Say the ortho yesterday and of course he suggested surgery --- I immediately said no. I intend to do physical therapy and yoga to see if that won't help. I was just relieved to hear that it wasn't cancer so I know how happy you must also be feeling right now.

I too, have celebrated a diagnosis of arthritis. My right hip started aching a few months ago.............had a bone scan and it was clean, just good ole arthritis. I have since started taking glucosamine. It sometimes takes months for the glucosamine to make a difference........we'll see.

I had a scare on Wed morning. I awoke with a mild headache and some dizziness, but thought maybe I was catching the viral infection my daughter had. Anyway, took Sarah to school, then drove to campus rec center where I swim laps. I swam, felt good, showered, dressed, then looked in the mirror and yikes my eye was bleeding!!! I sort of freaked out........of course, thought I had mets to the eye. I was checked by 2 docs (ER doc and my primary care doc) and both said "not to worry, just some broken blood vessels in the eye). I rejoiced that day and felt so happy to be alive!!!!
