Thumbs down Found a new lump

No, no, no, say it can't be true. I found a lump in my OTHER breast yesterday. It is very painful to touch, just under the areaola. I have a mamogram scheduled for Tuesday. Jeez, I just got done with chemo, had my first herceptin and haven't even gone to radiation yet.

I am scared, and I am unhappy

Hang on there, perhaps it is just a cyst or fibrocystic tissue...I am hoping and praying for you that is what it is. Geezzz is right, this disease is scary and frightening and I don't know if that ever completely goes away. Good luck, will be praying for you. Please let it be good news and not bad. Let us know.

Dear Susan,

I can sooooooooooooooo relate to your fears. The day before my radiation was to be finished I got a call from my surgeon saying that there was a questionable area of calcification in my other breast (found through a mamoo) and they wanted to do a stereotactic biopsy of it. Oh geez! I just cried and cried and couldn't believe it. I thought HOW COULD I HAVE CANCER AFTER JUST COMPLETING 8 CYCLES OF CHEMO. Well, thankfully, ALL CAME BACK BENIGN and I was the happiest girl in the world. HOWEVER, at that point I made the decision to have my other breast removed and my insurance approved it. My surgeon didn't fight me on it at all as she knew from the get go that having both breasts removed is really what I wanted. After this scare I think she really agreed with me.

So, I am now breastless and happy as can be.

God be with you and I'm sure it is nothing.

Mary Jo

I hope this turns out to be nothing. Try not to worry (ha ha I know that's easier said than done!) But you've been through plenty already and are due for a break and good news. Hoping it will be just that - good news.

Hang in there

I so know what your going thru. 10 months after my DX, the other breast showed a questionable area. Not only no, but hell no I wasn't going thru this again. SO, I had a Simple Mastectony done on that side. I was already thru Chemo and Rad's and was into Herceptin when this happened.

Susan V,

Sorry to hear that you have a lump in your other breast. As hard as it is please try and remain positive. Most breast cancers are not painful. It could any number of things. I'll keep you in my prayers. Please keep us posted.

Dear Susan,

I surely hope that the lump isn't cancerous. Hopefully because you have been having chemo it is something else.

Hugs and Prayers,
Lexi

I hope it is just a cyst...the pain makes it sound like one. I will be sending good thoughts and prayers for good results...you have been there and done that and once is enough for any of us.

with active chemo and Herceptin you are doing, the chance of having another cancer is not likely. Hope the best and keep your chin up. I am praying for you.

Thumbs up

Thank you all for posting such wonderful words of encouragement. I have great news to report. I had a mamo & ultrasound done yesterday, and everything is just fine. Most likley a syst. It had gotten much smaller, and was no longer painful by the time I arrived at my appointment yesterday.

I was sooo happy when the doctor gave me the good news. I was really freaking out prior to that. Thanks again for posting. I really appreciate it !

RE: Your benign cyst.

Wonderful news!! That happened to a woman in my Wellness Community support group. She was stage 3, had a mast and reconstruction, was getting her chemo and herceptin and found a lump in her remaining breast. Nobody needs that terror. It was a fluid filled cyst. I remember the group facilitator telling her that with all the herceptin and chemo she'd been taking, it would be unlikely that tumor would grow in her other breast. The facilitator was right I'm happy to say. Happy Holidays. Merry Christmas. A Happy and Prosperous New Year to you. MJO

Wonderful news

Every time one of us goes through the misery and terror of a feared recurrence, and it turns out to be a false alarm, I think it helps us all remember that often things turn out happily.
Enjoy the return to a holiday state of mind!

Susan, I am so happy you got good news. Its just terrible having the worse run through your mind and having to wait for the scans and results of it. I feel like you did. I have my FIRST mammo since my DX last yr this coming Monday on my remaining breast that I WANTED removed but surgeon talked me out of it. This stress is killing me. I have had these little pains that come and go in my remaining breast and I feel a little lump. Doesn't feel right. Plus I had been noticing this pain that comes and goes in the axilla area of that same side.

Now I have to wait to have mammo this coming Monday (18th) and wait for results. Although after last years mammo I now know if they come back in asking for MORE views...I will REALLY panic! I am so nervous about this...its the same time of year this whole nightmare started last year. I hope and pray I get good news like you did.

Anyway, now that you got this behind you...GO enjoy your holidays. I am thrilled everything turned out ok. Wishing you all the best now and for the coming new year.

Chelee
