Bone Mets and reconstruction

Hi I have bone mets that were not dx at the original time. It was dx 1 week after my mastectomy. I was reconstructed w/ tissue expanders. I can not get a straight answer if I will ever get my perm implants since chemo can be an on going thing and I have several months left according to my onc last week at my monthly visit. I am just curious if anyone else w/ mets was able to reconstruct?
Women I have met were not eligable to reconstruct so any info you guyus have would be great.

Thank you,

Shonda

My mets to the nodes above the collarbone were found during my reconstruction while I had the tissue expander in...I was not on chemo at the time but they got in a big hurry to remove the expander and put in an implant...then I started Herceptin. I can see why they don't want to place the implants while you are on chemo, higher risk of infection etc...your body needs its strength to deal with the chemo, without adding healing from surgery...be patient, it can happen when you are through with chemo....by the way, my tissue expander was more comfortable than my implant! Hope this helps.
