Were Back !
The HER2 Support Group has returned from the ASCO meeting. I probably missed a lot of posts as we were too busy to log onto our website. Thanks to Al of Canada for updating our ASCO-2006 Board.
And of course a hearty thank you to Vernal, Cynthia, Kim, Becky, Vickie for helping us present our support group to the many professionals at the meeting.
A special thank you to their husbands for giving up their wives for 6 days.
Val Pfeiffer (middle) was in Atlanta for another meeting and stopped by to say hello.
Our last night together and a "Thank You" dinner for a job well done.
Cynthia gave a glowing description of our group at a Bayer/Oncogene Science Press Conference.
If anything we all walked away with fond memories.
Regards
Joe

Thank you again for representing us...
it sounds like a LOT of research is in the works...ESPECIALLY for Her2 cancer. Thank you also to Al for keeping us posted as to the latest news.

Friends,
It was my true honor to attend ASCO as one of the representatives of our Her2 Support Group. I want to report back how proud I was to be a part of such a wonderful and well known organization. I think we all owe a huge round of applause to Christine and Joe for creating and promoting us to the medical community in such a positive and visible way.
On a personal note, it was truly a pleasure to have the chance to meet in person just a few of the many fantastic people who participate on this forum (i.e., Becky, Vernal, Vickie, Kim -- you are the best). I cannot express in words how much I like and respect Christine and Joe and how much work they had to do to make our presence so well known.
The biggest message I took from the conference was that so very much work is being done to help us Her2+ folks. I truly feel that we are fortunate that -- if you had to get breast cancer -- at least we got the type that is the subject of so much research, innovation and hope.
Stay well.
Cynthia

Honored, Welcomed and Respected
Dear Joe and All of our Members,
It was such a privilege for me to be among the group who represented our lifesaving Her2support group. However, above all else, it was heartwarming to see how much the research and medical oncology communtiy honor and respect the work Christine and Joe have done to keep us all together and connected.
It was nothing short of goosebump raising to see doctors from as far away as Romania, South Africa, Korea and Thailand snatch up our Her2 pamphlets and web site information to share with their patients.
We have a lot to be grateful for; and the work that Christine and Joe has done on our behalf tops the list.
We also had the privilege to meet a member of our advisory, Vernal Branch. She is clearly very savvy and it was fun to see Vernal and her protoge, Cynthia, "work the crowds", making all aware of the fine web site Joe has created for us, as well as telling all about how disease smart you all are.
Well, I am rambling, but all in all it was an awesome trip. We learned alot, and had alot of laughs.
Love Kim from CT
