radiation for lung mets

After a few month break from chemo, my lung met has doubled in size. My Dr. suggested I try radiation on my lung met. I met with the radiation Dr. today and he says I can't have regular radiation on my met because it will cross into the area that has already been radiated. So he is sending me to a Dr. that specializes in a diiferent kind of radaition. I won't know a lot about it, till I see him. I was wondering if anyone else out there has tried radiation on a lung met. I know Hope has and I e-mailed her to see how her's came out. Patty H

Cancer Treatment Centers of America

I had rd. tx to mediastynime at C.T.C.A. Spring 04. Their were several people their who had rad. tx. to their lungs, both metz and primary. They used a procedure called IMRT and they also have tomotherepy. Tomotherepy is primarily used on patients who have had the max dose as the unit spares most, if not all of the healthy tissue. You can reach them at cancercenter.com or call them toll free 800-577-1255
