Nail question...

I'm lucky in that I escaped - for the most part - neuropathy in my fingers and toes and my nails so far are relatively good but there are ridges.

Except for one toenail - the largest one. It seems as if that nail is dead and is not growing. It's black at the base and the rest is very white. Most of it is so soft I could literally peel it off - it is very loose on one side. But if I did that I would have practically no nail on that toe at all. What do I do? Leave it? I can't clip it because it's not growing - it's as short as it can get.

What a stupid dilemma - it's only here that I feel I can get an answer.

Your nail will grow back! Just be careful that you do not catch the nail on anything for it will tear off - oouch --. Soak your foot in warm water and
let the nail loosen on its own, when its ready it will fall off. Your new nail will take time to grow in but it will grow in.

This happened to a lady at my cancer center and she even painted over
the nail while she was waiting for it grow in so it would match her other
toes. Just don't put nail polish on right away give your toe some time
to heal over when the nail does fall.

good luck
hug,
Jean
