fundraiser

I would like some advice on how to go about having a fundraiser. And what kind of fundraiser do y'all think would be profitable? I live in a small town, work at the local school and a semi-local radio station advertises fundraisers on the air. In April a team of us did the Race for the Cure, and for next year I'd like to talk to the teachers to get more of them to either participate or donate, but would like to do something else. Any ideas or help would be great.

We were invitied to a bowling party and silent auction to raise money for breast cancer. It was in honor of someone who lost their life after a long battle with breast cancer. Her husband set up a foundation in her name and the money goes to various projects affiliated with Northwestern Memorial's Breast Cancer Center. I have also been invitied to golf outings and a night at Ravinia which is concerts in the park here on the north shore of Chicago.

Junaita,

Good luck getting the teachers involved. I worked for the biggest teacher's union and found that the majority of teachers didn't have the funds to contribute. You could go to all your local merchants and get them to donate gift certificates or services and sell raffle tickets.

Smile Juanita...

I am CURRENTLY working on fund raisers for the American Cancer Society and Making Strides Against BC. We are planning a corporate wide Bake Sale (there are 2000 empoloyees in our office) where we ask EVERYONE to bring in a donation (we will do this one day in May and one day in June). Also, JDRF who HOARDS the fund raising here is considering letting us in and split the profits. One event they have that is a RIOT is a "cow plop". People buy chances as to which number the cow will poop on (yes there IS a real cow). On a specified day, a local farmer brings a cow to the parking lot that we have numbered off and wherever the "cow plops" that person wins what ever the prize # is and if multiple winners, they split the winnings...TOOO fun. We also hold a book drive, they are having an "evening out" at the local health spa complete with hor deurves, silent auction. Good luck. Take care and God bless.
