Sloan Kettering her 2 vaccine trial

Hi
I wondered if any of my sisters across the pond had any experience of this trial. I have contacted a couple of other trial centres that have sent me helpful info to share with my onc however I am really struggling with Sloan Kettering.
They apparently don't have a trials coordinator for e-mail contact and won't give the e-mail of either Dr Gilewski, the investigator or the nursing staff.
I ended up talking to an admin person in the international dept who told me to fax my records. When I asked who to he didn't know!!
As there is nothing available in England I know that I will need to go to America for a vaccine and the east coast would be easiest in terms of travel, though I would be prepared to go anywhere if the right trial became available
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Sloan Kettering her 2 vaccine trial

Hi Ellie,

Try Dr. Gilewski directly at gilewskit@mskcc.org. I believe that would be her direct e-mail. She might answer you. Indicate that you're writing from abroad and try to simplify the e-mail by getting directly to the point.

Another excellent east coast Comprehensive Cancer Center is Fox Chase in Philadelphia. Dana Farber in Boston is another.

There are 40 comprehensive centers in the U.S., which are designated by the National Cancer Institute here.

Re: Sloan Kettering her 2 vaccine trial

Ellie, I am looking at the same trial and had a similar experience. With some persistance, they sent me details of the trial. When I get to my other computer over the weekend, I'll share with you what I have on other Breast Cancer Vaccine trails and sites that I reviewed.

Re: Sloan Kettering her 2 vaccine trial

Ellie,

There is a Walter Reed vaccine study going on in the US, Greece, and Germany. This tiral is using two second generation peptide vaccines. There is something for everybody if you are NED and no more that six months out from your last treatment, Herceptin or chemo.
  • Arm I: HLA-A2-positive patients receive GP2 peptide/GM-CSF vaccine intradermally (ID) every 3-4 weeks for a total of up to 6 inoculations. HLA-A2-negative patients receive AE37 peptide/GM-CSF vaccine ID every 3-4 weeks for a total of up to 6 inoculations.
  • Arm II : Patients receive GM-CSF ID every 3-4 weeks for a total of up to 6 inoculations.
I am currently in this trial at Winston-Salen North Carolina and know for a fact they still have a number of openings. The other locations are:

Walter Reed Army Medical Center
Washington DC
Contact: Diane Papay, RN 202-782-3877

Wale Forest University Comprehensive Cancer Center
Winston-Salem North Carolina
Contact: Robin Petro, RN 336-713-4788

Germany
Landstuhl Regional Medical Center
Landstuhl, Germany, 66840
Contact: Mark G. Carmichael, MD 49-6371-86-8100

Greece
Saint Savas Cancer Hospital of Athens
Athens, Greece, 11522
Contact: Michael Papamichail, MD 30-210-6409-624

I hope this helps you. Good luck.
Sandra

Re: Sloan Kettering her 2 vaccine trial

Yes, it is a phase two. 'lizabeth, on this board, is also in it. As a matter of fact, she is ahead of me and has just finished her six innoculations. It began in 07. There are also four sites in Texas and one if Washington state. The only one that I know is full and not accepting more patients is MD Anderson. The chair, Dr. Peoples, is at Brooke Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. That is where 'lizabeth has been going. There is no cost for the injections or blood work. You have to provide transportation and lodging. If you would like more information, send me a private message and I will help you all I can. The locations is Texas are:
Mary Crowley Medical Research Center
Dallas, Texas
Contact: Clinical Trials Office - 214-370-1877

Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center
Fort Hood, Texas
Contact: Edna Figueroa-Dias, RN 254-288-8048

Brooke Army Medical Center
Fort San Houston, Texas (San Antonio)
Contact: Karen Parsons, BSN, RN 210-916-4837

MD Anderson (They told me they were full)

Madigan Army Medical Center
Tacoma, Washington
Contact: Shari Aynes, RN 253-968-3891

I didn't list these earlier because Ellie was inquiring about sites on the east coast.
The web site for this trial is
http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/N...cine%22&rank=1

Re: Sloan Kettering her 2 vaccine trial

Hi Ellie,
Here's the website that I found helpful. You put in info about yourself and it returns back all clinical trials that you might qualify for. It will provide updates too. The two that I am looking into are the Walter Reed & Sloan.
