can raising vitamin D levels prevent up to half of all breast cancers?

Researchers say that raising vitamin D levels may prevent up to half of all breast and two thirds of colorectal cancer cases in the United States.

" Based on the results of 2 separate studies, the investigators recommend a daily intake of 2000 IU of vitamin D3 and, when possible, moderate sun exposure."

OK! You got me reading about Vitamin D and BC and there is a wealth of info to go through. But all interesting. I just googled it. It does seem to be something we can do and learn more about. It's that crazy balance between doing not to much or not too little. Living in South Texas sure gives me the opportunity to choose!!!! Thanks for the information! ma

Thanks Lani for all your wonderful information. This one is one I try to pay attention too. I am currently taking 5000 i.u. of D3. I take one 2000 i.u. in the a.m. and one 2000 i.u. in the p.m. along with my Cod Liver Oil that has about 1000 something i.u. in it as well. It's been a long, cold winter here in WI so I am not outside walking in the sunshine hardly ever (been doomed to the dreaded basement walking on a treadmill) Once Spring gets here I pretty much live outside so I will then eliminate one of the 2000 i.u. capsules.

Thanks again........always look forward to what I can learn from Lani.

Hugs to you,

Mary Jo

Some of you may already know that I serve as a reviewer for the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program put out by the Dept of Defense ... reviewing medical research proposals from world class centers and institutions soliciting funds for bc research...<O</O
The last funding cycle provided major funds for a study to determine the correlation of Vit D and breast cancer.<O
Anyway, of the 60 or so proposals, this ranked in the top 10. The scientists reviewing this specific study had glowing commentaries on how well the hypothesis could be proven by the methodology of the research. So, its just a matter of time that this current trend of Vit D becomes another proven agent in fighting the disease.
