Blood clots, anyone?

Has anyone had trouble with developing blood clots while on Femara or other AI's? I developed a pulmonary embolism 8 weeks after starting on Femara. I'm now on Coumidin.

Thanks,
Beth

I am on Tamoxifen, but I worry about that all the time!!! How did you know?

I am glad that you are okay. I bet that was scary.

Take care,
Krista

Krista,

They thought I had "walking pneumonia" but it didn't go away after tons of antibiotics. Finally, after 4 weeks my radiation oncologist ordered a chest CT and they saw the PE. Evidently on an x-ray it just shows up looking like fluid, which is consistent with pneumonia.

Ironically, I had an oophorectomy and went on an AI to avoid the potential of blood clots from Tamoxifen since I had some trouble with clotting during chemo (which they attributed to chemo).

I'm not sure what's next - I'll find out in a couple of weeks I guess.

I feel fine now.

Love, Beth
P.S. I have twin sons who are 7 - it is a fun age, don't you think?

Hey! The thought of a blood clot worries me on a daily basis. I am back on the Xanax just to deal with it. Okay, so it's just 1/2 of a .25 mg. pill, which is probably a placebo, but at least I can function. LOL

Little boys don't always get the credit they deserve. They are wonderful little creatures.

Take care,
