Her2 Serum???

Okay I have been reading posts for sometime and I see many of mention a HER2 serum test. I am almost ashamed to admit I do not know what this is! I know it is not the initial HER2 test. We all know we are HER2 positive so what is this serum test for? If anyone has a simple answer for me I would appreciate it because quite frankly, I cannot search the internet for awhile. I have been doing too much of that lately and I am freaked out and not sleeping again and I am so mentally drained right now with being my own advocate when it comes to my treatments. Sorry for the rambling.

Hi Debra
I am new at this and often times do not understand complicated articles and comments. But I am so thankful for this site and the "sisters" we have here.

I understand what you mean about not sleeping as you search the internet. It happens to all of us. Do what is comfortable for you. Sleep is so important. Often times I am like a roller coaster, up some days and down the next. When I'm down I concentrate on the many blessings I have. We are so fortunate to have Herceptin available to us and I'm thankful for that daily.

I am sorry you are finding it hard to advocate for yourself. Maybe others will have ideas on how to help with that.

I've gotten it - it's simply a blood test, and the results take about a week to come back - sometimes if it's the first time your lab or your onc's office has done it, there is a bit of confusion - but actually very straightforward after that. Good luck with it.

Regards,
